Overall the experience was mid. My colleagues and I went for our lunch break, food took over an hour to come out. I wish this was communicated to us because we only have an hour lunch so we were all late coming back to the office. People who came in 20 minutes after us received their food at the same time. Samosas were a 6/10, oily and had no sauce Skewers were a 7/10, slightly burnt Jerk chicken plate 2/10 (coworkers rating), burnt chicken, dry jollof rice, soggy plantains, and there was ketchup on the slaw. Boom Boom chicken sandwich 4/10 (co-workers rating), asked for topping on side, came on sandwich. Replaced yuka fries with regular fries and she liked them. But got toast instead of sandwich bun found in pics online. Fish Stew 8/10, slightly oily but fish was good, tomatoes sauce was good, and rice was fine. The inside of the restaurant was nice, I just wish they sold alcohol. My co-worker ordered a $9 glass of wine. Wine was non-alcoholic (not stated on menu) and she was charged $11 for it. She told them and they corrected the bill. I think this place has potential but needs more staff. They could also benefit from hosting events. Love supporting black owned businesses and would love to see the improvements they make over time.

So the order was ready on time. Parking was not easy. There was some work being done in front and I am not sure were the best place was to park is. I never had this type of food before so we just picked a few things on the menu. The food is primarily good and spicy. Egsi soup was great fufi worked well with it. The chicken skewers and plantains were tasty as well. The Suya beef was also tasty but is was kind of dry and had some pieces that were grisly. I did not know what Banku was but I ordered it becuase it was recommended. I did not like it at all. The Banku on its own has a bland fermented beer type taste. It appears this is something you dip in soup or a sauce not order with dry beef. I had not sause to use.

So, I had to plan a last minute party for my mother and randomly found this place. The owner of the restaurant, Muna went out of her way to be extremely accommodating. She gave me some samples to try and I fell in love. I first ordered atieke, fish stew and yucca fries which was on a Wednesday. I called back on Friday to add jollof rice, kelewele and fried yam. The warmth and passion she showed was infectious and I am a fan for life. Can't wait to go back and have a sit down meal.

Ordered Jollof and Beef suya and i received steamed beef with no suya seasoning on it at all. Now i made this order at 7.30pm and if the chef was exhausted, they should have cancelled and called it a night. Very very disappointed because what is this .. The photos will show you how bland and unseasoned the suya was and it was a $50 meal. Never again. I will stick to Sahel restaurant in Lowell. They care about the customer.
