I had some work done by the House Doctors back in February to have some cracked tiles replaced in my shower. The contractor was a huge help and fixed it quickly and for a really good price. Despite him cancelling on me a few times, it ended up working out and I was just happy to have the work done and done well. I had originally written a 5 star review of the company that I have since revised due to the lack of accountability over the past several weeks.
Earlier this summer, I noticed that one of the tiles that was installed had developed a hairline crack that spread across the entire tile, another tile was beginning to crack, grout was beginning to crack, and some of the tiles were becoming discolored. Since the company offers a 1 year workmanship quality guarantee, I immediately got in touch with the office on June 10th to send them photos of the cracked tiles and schedule a time to have it fixed.
We have had appointments scheduled every week since June 17th to have the shower tiles fixed, totaling about 5 or 6 appointments. I have been cancelled on the day of, every single time, usually with no communication until I call the office and try to figure out where the contractor is and why he didn’t show up.
I was told the appointment would only take 1-2 hours to replace a couple tiles, but every day of an appointment, it was radio silence until I reached out to find out what was going on. I would stay home from work, schedule plans and my entire day around being available, just for nobody to ever show up.
The office staff couldn’t be less helpful as they would just tell me “oh I see you're scheduled for this morning, oh I’m not sure why the contractor isn’t there, oh I’ll try calling him and have him call you.”
Then I would sit and wait for an hour or two, only to call back the office again, frustrated by the lack of communication for hours, and have them say “Oh, he didn’t get in touch with you? He told me he would. I’ll call him again.”
This went back and forth so many times before I would finally get a text or call later in the day about rescheduling even though my original appointment had been scheduled for 10am. As of count today, I have had about 20 phone calls back and forth with the office over the past 5 weeks trying to figure out when I can have this fixed.
On Friday, July 19th, it happened again. Despite making an appointment a week in advance, I waited around all day and was told by both Stefan and the office that he would MAYBE show up at some point, but suddenly had another job already scheduled that apparently took precedence. As of 4pm today, I have no idea what's going on. and haven't heard any updates from the office staff or the contractor.
I honestly believe that, due to me having already paid for this work months ago, that new customers and their money are being treated with much more importance despite the 1 year workmanship guarantee. They already have my money, so why come back and fix the work unless they absolutely have to?
In a city full of endless handyman and contracting companies to work with, there is absolutely no reason to hire a company that treats their customers like this.
