  HillCrust Pizza is on a completely different level. I have eaten pizza all over Los Angeles and San Diego, but this place has something special that keeps me coming back. I actually make the drive from Beverly Hills just to eat here, and every time it feels worth it. The quality and consistency are unmatched. The Loaded Hilly Philly Cheesesteak is my favorite item on the menu. The flavor is outstanding, the portions are generous, and the fact that they use halal grass fed meat makes it even better. It is without question one of the best Philly steaks I have ever had. Their pizzas are just as impressive. The dough is organic and non GMO, soft and airy yet with the perfect bite, and the San Marzano tomato sauce gives it a fresh, authentic taste. I have tried just about everything here and it has all been excellent. The Golden Hill with Mike’s Hot Honey has the perfect touch of sweetness and spice. The Sunset Cliffs with pickled jalapeños has the kind of flavor that stays with you. Even the Margherita, which is usually simple anywhere else, is fresh and full of flavor here. What stands out most is that no matter what I order it always comes out consistent and delicious. The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. The restaurant is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing, making it the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your food without distractions. The staff is also friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. HillCrust Pizza is more than just a pizza place. It is a spot that takes quality seriously and delivers every time. For me it has become a destination, and if I am willing to drive from Beverly Hills just to eat here that should tell you how special it really is.

  Just stopped in to get a margarita pizza from here and was a bit hesitant because I've never tried this place before. I'm glad I did because the pizza is fantastic. It came out looking exactly like the photos show on their Google page here and tastes awesome. I say "tastes" because I'm still eating it. 2 slices in and I thought it was worthy of getting a great review. The crust is the most important part of a good pizza and this one nailed it. My only criticism is I'd like to see large size pizzas as an option. Maybe it is and I didn't notice it but the only better than a great pizza is a larger great pizza. If you're in the area, and are a pizza snob like me, check this place out. You won't regret it.

  I am Vegan, they have an amazing vegan menu. They are offering vegan cheese and vegan meat as well as a vegan Philly cheesesteak! The only reason I gave four stars is because you cannot make any changes to the ingredient list for the Philly cheesesteak. I would like to be able to omit Something on the Philly cheesesteak.

  LITERALLY MY NEW FAV RESTAURANT IN HILLCREST. i’ve been a vegetarian for 13 years and only started eating meat again to treat my vitamin b deficiency—and OH MY GOODNESS. this is the place to do it. everything is made with so much love, care, and expertise!!
