In 1838, 17 Latter-day Saints were killed by vigilantes at Hawn’s Mill, a frontier settlement located in Caldwell County, Missouri. Today, Hawn’s Mill is a peaceful commemorative landscape owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Nice to visit and honor those who were unjustly persecuted for their religious beliefs.

Solemn and reverent place. Definitely sacred ground. Dirt roads only so you'll need a car wash afterwards.

The gravel road was surrounded by beautiful fields full of deer. The site itself only has a very small parking lot and an old plaque. But if you read the story before you come (or while you are there), it is a place of significance and has a lovely and inviting spirit.
