We went on a busy Saturday. We were party of three. We waited over an hour for a table. It took another hour before our food came out. Two of the dishes were cold. Our waiter checked on us at the end of the meal. The Carmel latte was the best thing we had.

I visited this restaurant today with high expectations, and while the atmosphere was beautiful and the staff were very pleasant, the overall experience fell short. First, I want to emphasize that our server, Michael, was extremely kind and did his best. I truly believe the issues we experienced were not his fault but rather reflect a need for better training and organization within the restaurant itself. There weren’t many guests when we arrived, so I expected prompt service. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. It took nearly 15 minutes to receive a cup of coffee after asking, and I had to request a refill later as well. Breakfast basics like buttered toast, salt, and pepper should be ready without having to ask multiple times. Unfortunately cold toast and cold butter don’t make a great combination. We also experienced some confusion with our order. I was first told that the restaurant was out of avocado, so I ordered something else, only to be told 10 minutes later that avocado was actually available and then I was charged for the avocado toast I didn’t receive. Luckily, I caught the error when reviewing the bill. The coffee itself was very weak, and the espresso shot I requested to strengthen it arrived just a few minutes before the check. My son never received his apple juice. For a breakfast that cost $85 for four people, we left feeling hungry and a bit disappointed. The space itself is lovely, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely nice, but the service needs tightening up if the restaurant wants to compete with true breakfast establishments. Simple fixes: serve coffee quickly, ensure food is hot, have condiments ready, and double-checking the bill would make a big difference. With a bit more training and attention to detail, this place could easily live up to its potential.

I went here with some friends and the service started out really great, but then after we got our food, our server never came back to our table to even check on us, to the point where my friends had to go up to ask for the check. i had some food left over that i wanted to take to go, so i told my friend to ask for a box if the server came back while i was in the bathroom. (this was before they went up to the front) i came back to the table where my coat was still on the chair and my plate was gone. my friends were up at the register paying so i asked if they had gotten my food to go for me. they said not yet, to which i told them it wasn’t at the table. they looks super surprised because they said they had just gone up to pay not even a minute ago. I understand wanting to be quick about clearing tables, but to see my coat on the chair and still take my plate that had half of my food still on it was extremely disappointing especially when I paid almost $20 for the french toast alone. The only good thing about this place was that the food was really good, but it seemed like the servers were very inconsiderate and we’re trying to basically rush us out despite there not being that many people in the restaurant.

I ordered The Southerner, The Cadillac Skillet, Blue Raspberry Lemonade and a side pancake. It was pretty busy. I think the waiter had too many tables because it took him a long time to take our order. Once the food was brought to the table, it was cold. I tasted one of the shrimp and it was very well seasoned. The grits were also seasoned well, but not hot. The skillet included steak, eggs, & potatoes but again not hot. I feel like the experience would’ve been much better if the food had been hot. Also, I did ask to speak to the manager, which is something I normally don’t do. The manager was very apologetic & he did bring out a fresh order of The Southerner. The grits were delicious and so were the shrimp. He also took seven dollars off the meal. I think I would go back again but the next time, I would make a special request to have my food hot.

Food was excellent. Service subpar. Tip: greet your table within first few minutes even if you’re busy. Share specialty items early on After food is served, check on your table to ensure there aren’t any issues/errors or needs Check again to see if drinks need to be refilled. Check again for anything else, more food, desserts or check. Come on Detroit, let’s get it!!
