We visited on Sunday, October 4, and unfortunately had a negative experience with an older lady wearing a scarf and hat in the tree forest area. As soon as we entered, I noticed her yelling at kids. I understand how frustrating it can be to remind children to walk or follow rules, but the way she handled it felt unnecessarily harsh. Many kids couldn’t even hear her, and others seemed to start ignoring her because she came across as constantly annoyed. My son saw a climbing net area and didn’t realize it was closed. Instead of calmly letting him know, the lady—whose name was Lucy—yelled at him, which frightened him so much that he ran off. I was surprised because she didn’t seem like an employee; she wasn’t wearing the same staff shirt as the others. I decided to find someone else to talk to and ran into a gentleman heading that way. I explained what happened, and he apologized, mentioning that she was probably tired. I can understand that, but if that’s the case, please make sure staff are rotated or relieved so that fatigue doesn’t affect guests’ experiences—especially when families are paying a good amount of money to be there.

We just moved to the area from the Midwest, and all my life I’ve heard about Southern hospitality—but if Virginia is considered part of the South, they might want to reconsider that phrase! This was, hands down, the rudest bunch of people I’ve ever encountered. In the short 45 minutes we were there, between my husband and me, we were yelled at seven different times. Every single one of us—including our children—had yellow wristbands on, yet we were accused of trying to sneak in for free. We accidentally parked in the wrong area and were literally chased down by someone yelling at us. My son needed to use the restroom, and as we hurried him in, another person was screaming because we weren’t “staying on the mulch.” We paid for horse ride tickets, but when my child gently touched the horse, someone shouted, “Don’t touch unless you have a ticket!”—even though we clearly did. We paid $111 to be there for less than an hour and left feeling completely unwelcome. I’m from Chicago—I know rude—but this was something else. So thankful we live in North Carolina now, because I won’t be crossing the border back for this again!

10/23/25: My friend and I just came here. We bought $40 wristbands, so we were under the impression that we would be able to go through all the haunted houses, because the m ticket booth closed at 9:30 p.m. The lady “advises” us to go through the houses in the order of this tiny card she hands us, but never mentions that everything may close earlier than stated on the websites While waiting in line for the hayride, we were made aware that not one, but TWO of the haunted attractions closed at the same time as the ticket booth. Nowhere online, or at the ticket booth did they tell us that everything would be closed before we would even get a chance to wait in the overly long lines. The ones we went to were semi-scary, but if you go at a later time I do not recommend, nothing was made clear. Update 10/30/25: We complained last time and this guy, who was super nice, gave us passes to come back a different time. Well same thing happened to us again, we were told the things to do in order, which we did, but when we got to the hayride, they told us we weren’t allowed to go on. There were barely any scare actors, the scare actors that were there yelled at us for the littlest things, such as “touching their rope” while waiting in the line, and the feeding boxes in the petting zoo were all broken, taking every quarter we tried to use. I never write reviews on places, but I had to this time. So if you want to WASTE your money here I guess you need to be there as soon as they open. Emphasis on WASTE, because it’s not worth $40, it’s truly a scam.

My family and I have been coming to hunt club farms since I was a little girl I am now grown raising my own children. We would come every year around the same time and have even had birthday parties there several times. However today changed my mind about ever coming back. The workers there today were absolutely just rude and have no business around children. For one you don’t put your hands on another persons child and you don’t come at an adult like your going to put your hands on them. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life after I was accused to stealing a pumpkin which was paid for with his cupcake upon purchasing our tickets. My son’s ticket was an extra $5 for that reason kids party, pumpkin and a cupcake. My son didn’t even get to walk around and pick his own the lady threw one in his arms and said you can just take this one. We did not receive a sticker she drew with sharpie on his wristband, which then got on his arm. She said sorry we Don’t have any more stickers they blew away The cupcake toppings went all Which were then put back on the table and served, which is gross. You don’t take stuff off the ground, especially if there is barn animal Feces on the ground. At that point, I was leaving to walk out and the crosswalk Looked at me and said you have to pay for that pumpkin I said no ma’am I do not it was already paid for She said it needs a sticker and then grabs me trying to grab the pumpkin. At this moment, I became irate because people aren’t supposed to put their hands on other people. It’s absolutely ridiculous Then on her walkie-talkie said we have a pumpkin running I was not running. I turned around and I said no ma’am I am walking and they can meet me at my car But you yourself need to get away from me. My son’s crying his eyes out. I will never be back here. I was faithful to y’all for 20 years. But none of my family were ever be back there

My daughter, granddaughter and I went with a couple other people to celebrate my daughter and granddaughters' birthdays. The farm is definitely beautiful with a lot to do for Halloween. Everything was enjoyable until the hayride. At the beginning of the ride, the girl announcing stated the usual: No smoking, vaping or taking "flash" photography. So, when we came to the first stop in the visit, I was recording and the girl yelled at me and told me no recording the rest of the ride. I said, "Oh ok." So, as we went along the ride, I took a picture (no flash) and she yelled, "Ma'am, I said no videos!" I told her I wasn't taking a video and showed her my phone that it was just a picture and she yells, "No more pictures for you the rest of the ride!" Her speaking so rudely really caused me to not enjoy the ride with my granddaughter and just put a damper on the mood for the rest of the evening. I would recommend that if there were no recording or photos allowed, signs be placed to show this. If there were any, they definitely were not in clear view to the public. Also, if photos are not allowed, she should clarify that instead of saying, "No flash photography." Finally, she should not be yelling at the public the way she was when there were obviously not clear instructions about no video or photos. It was very humiliating when she didn't have to be so rude. I do also want to note that I saw other people taking photos with a flash and she said nothing. I felt like I was singled out by her for some reason. My daughter sat there trying to figure out what was happening and why I got into trouble when they made it seems like photos were okay. For me, as expensive as those tickets were, I definitely will not ever go back. It's a shame because I have always enjoyed going there in the past and I was really looking forward to sharing the experience with my granddaughter. This one person ruined the hayride for us and my granddaughter's first time.
