Al Haslam purchased the marina in August of 1961 after clearing the land, building the docks, overseeing construction of the buildings and serving as resident operator for several years. The lake was young and remote and there were only a few rustic weekend cabins. Most customers were daytime visitors and put in using the marina ramp or hoist. Despite clearly having fuel at the dock, they outright refused to refuel my jet ski—but were refueling other boats right in front of me. I was left stranded and in a stressful situation, all because of an arbitrary and unfair policy. There was no explanation, no assistance offered, and zero concern for customer safety or basic decency. If you’re on a jet ski, don’t count on this place for help. They seem to pick and choose who they serve, regardless of who actually needs it. Completely unacceptable behavior for a business on the water.
