I am sorry I didn't ask for the employee's name. She didn't stop looking until she found them where some thoughtless person had just left them on the floor. I was very glad to get my shopping bags back, and appreciated her effort very much.

- JDJoseph DugganMay 31, 20251.0I have been to over a dozen Hannaford stores in Maine and Vermont. The East Middlebury location is the least well managed of a dozen locations. I believe Middlebury should be a premier location for Hannaford. The size of the store and its lighting makes it an unpleasant shopping experience. I rarely see the visible presence of a store manager at leadership level. The store meets its basic function of provision of groceries to the community. I hope Hannaford's takes care of their staff. I am often concerned that the store's staff is not well matched to the volume of shoppers. At 6pm on a Friday evening there were only two check out lines! There is room for dramatic improvement. I know it is possible to run a well managed grocery store. Hannaford's Brandon is a much easier shopping experience for me. Middlebury coop is my go to shopping experience. I try to go to Hannaford East Middlebury as infrequently as possible. In some manner going to the East Middlebury location is always challenging. Hannaford's is a great chain that in most locations in Maine is very well managed. As an organization overall it is an inconsistent and uneven shopping experience. If you are ever in Waldoboro, Maine go to the Hannaford's there so you can see Hannaford's at their very best performance! Their smaller stores like Brandon tend to be better managed.
