  Many of the one-star reviews for Half Price Books mention terrible customer service, and unfortunately, I now understand why. I came in with my daughter to sell several bags of books, textbooks, and DVDs. The employee at the counter, a young woman with short dyed hair, was rude from the moment I said hello. Her dismissive and unprofessional attitude never let up, making the entire experience extremely frustrating and uncomfortable. I can understand that people have tough days, but there’s no excuse for treating customers this poorly. What should have been a simple transaction turned into such a negative encounter that I walked out rather than continue. This location was a complete nightmare, and I absolutely would not recommend it to anyone.

  I see several other reviews here mentioning the poor customer service when coming in to sell books. That was a first for me today, being turned away because the box the books were transported in wasn't to their liking. The passive aggressive attitude I recieved from one of the employees was unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. I should have gotten their name but even writing this review is new for me. I hope the manager will address this behavior because going to look for and find new books is supposed to be a fun experience. Not where someone says they will "recycle" your books for you and give you nothing for them. (My point is not I had to get money in exchange for them I would have donated them just the same) The fact of the matter is they were my mother's books that she had a hard time letting go and the unkind treatment we received made it worse. Never again, its the principle.
