As a fan from the haunts of the Flagship store in Dallas, I love all HPB's and can always find a treasure or two. This place was much smaller than the others but I found some great gems.

Went in for some dork diary books for my daughter discovered a whole section of anime and old gaming consoles spent over an hour right before close everyone was friendly 🫶
Let me start out by saying I genuinely like this spot. I go semi frequently at least like once a month or so to take a gander on an off day. Me and my girlfriend popped in recently to look around and to get a journal, however this time (and let me stress I've never had a single ounce of trouble here so I have no idea what was in the water today) one of the employees started following us around breathing down our necks as if we were shoplifting. I don't mean this like I was misinterpreting him working in our vicinity, I mean he was doing the retail thing where you follow around a customer who you think is shoplifting and make them uncomfortable enough to leave. I get it, it's probably something they have to deal with all the time at this location being where its at on S. Lamar, but we didn't do anything to warrant this behavior AT ALL. I just want to make it clear we were not shoplifting and there really wouldn't be any reason to write this if we were. The dude was being completely rude about the whole thing when we asked if he'd like to check our bags. I told him, hell, I'd turn out my pockets I just didn't want to be accused of something I wasn't doing. I will admit I got a little heated which probably was not the best course of action but I didn't freak on the guy or cuss or anything like that. We ended up leaving and I asked to speak to the manager (total Karen move I know, I'm ashamed) but the manager did not care and made me feel like an A-hole for saying something. Completely dismissive attitude and basically in so many words told me "what do you want me to do." The whole situation really rubbed me the wrong way because I have been in their shoes before at a job and this was not the way I would have handled this situation at all.
Just venting a bit here, but that was my experience. I hope someone from the store reads this because you made us feel extremely unwelcome and frankly uncomfortable when we were just trying to go have fun looking around and share some time together doing something we love which is thrifting. I guess I'd just wish that y'all would maybe pick your targets a bit better instead of just profiling someone for whatever reason we got chosen for. Or be a bit less rude about it if you do think something is going down but don't have proof. Again, I cant think of a single thing we did which would have warranted this outcome.
Still will come back, still like the store for what it is, and I do think there are nice people that work there. This was just a massive bummer and I needed to get it out.

If you're wanting to sell books, puzzles or games find another place. They give you pennies for items. Claiming they use some kind of algorithm??? A few friends and I all agree not the best place to sell.

Feeling very ripped off. I brought in two boxes of books and received barely a fraction of what they are worth. Bear in mind these were mostly new/newer hardbound books with intact perfect jackets and a face value of $389. I know they sell for half the sticker price, so I was expecting maybe a quarter of the value, $97. Instead I was shocked to receive only $13. Half Price Books used to be good and give you a reasonable value for your books. This isn't even 50 cents a book!! Most of my books were $29.-$35. Next time I will just have a garage sale or donate to a Little Free Library.
