I'll start by saying my wife and I recommend this company if you are looking for an outstanding pool contractor that offers turn-key services, such as, landscaping and irrigation. Marcello and Jenaro run an operation that checks all the boxes. They are very responsive and always answered our calls promptly and one of them would be at our home, usually the next day if we had any questions or concerns. The various crews and sub-contractors were well supervised. Respect for our property, etc..., was present at every phase. Marcello inspected the work regularly and was very present to insure that the project was completed to our satisfaction...down to the smallest detail. Our new back yard oasis is awesome!!
Frequently Asked Questions About H & Z Outdoor Living
What services does H & Z Outdoor Living offer?
H & Z Outdoor Living provides comprehensive swimming pool services, including installation, repair, cleaning, and maintenance.
What types of pools does H & Z Outdoor Living Install?
We specialize in the installation of custom gunite pools.
How long should I run my pool equipment?
For optimal performance, we recommend running your filter system for 6 to 8 hours daily. When water temperatures exceed 80F, increase the runtime to 8 to 12 hours per day.
Do I need to drain my pool every year?
It's not necessary to drain your pool annually. Maintaining water in the pool during winter can help prevent cracking of the pool bottom during freezing temperatures. We do, however, recommend using a pool cover in the off-season to protect against debris and cold temperatures.
How often do I need to clean my pool?
To prevent algae and bacteria growth, it's advisable to clean your pool at least once a week. This includes brushing and vacuuming the walls and floor to remove debris that the filter may miss. Regular brushing is essential, even if you use an automatic pool cleaner or have weekly professional service.
How often do I need to clean my skimmer and pump baskets?
It's important to clean your skimmer baskets daily and regularly inspect them for cracks, replacing as needed. A clogged or dirty skimmer basket can restrict water flow, impeding proper pool circulation. Similarly, a clogged pump basket can lead to pump overheating due to restricted water flow.
How often should I brush my pool?
We recommend brushing your pool's walls, ladders, steps, and corners at least once per week. For best results, start from the shallow end and work towards the deep end using overlapping strokes.
Why are pool chemicals necessary?
Pool chemicals are essential to maintain water quality. Swimmers introduce various contaminants such as body oils and skin cells into the pool. Additionally, natural debris can cloud the water and create an environment conducive to bacterial growth. Proper chemical treatment helps mitigate these issues.
Does my saltwater pool require any chlorine?
Saltwater systems generate chlorine by converting salt. However, there may be instances where you need to 'shock' the pool or super-chlorinate the water for maintenance purposes.
How long should I wait to use my pool after a chemical shock treatment?
For safety, we advise waiting 8-12 hours after administering a chemical shock treatment before using the pool. It's best to shock the pool in the evening, allowing the system to run overnight. If you use a non-chlorine shock, you may be able to swim within 30 minutes of treatment, but always follow product instructions.
