The Book of Mormon Historic Publication Site is the place where the first copies of the Book of Mormon were printed and bound in 1829 and 1830. It is also known as the Grandin Building, after Egbert B. Grandin, who owned and operated a printshop in the building. Today this historic site is open to the public year-round. It features restorations of the original bookstore, printer’s office, printing press, and bindery. It also features exhibits about Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What an excellent tour! I learned a lot about the process of printing the Nook of Mormon. It took 7 months to print and 17 months to bind!

Please be sure to do the tour. Our guide was amazing and we learned so much and gained such an appreciation for how tough it was to print books back in that time and how skilled the individuals were, that were involved in the process.
