My friend and I went to the resort to celebrate birthdays with spa treatments and a night away. We were really looking forward to what we thought would be an extra special spa experience and stay. Our experience was not at all what we expected. The spa was very underwhelming. It is in dire need for renovations, we wouldn't have gone in the hot tub if paid to do so as the water looked filthy ( it was gray/dirty couldn't see through it), the robes were very worn, the "tranquil" room and "relaxation" room were not even close to what the names suggest one being in a brightly lit small room/hallway offering crammed together, sad looking furniture, used blankets, and paper cone cups for water and the other having 2 love seats, 2 tables with chairs, and 2 plastic wicker pool side lounge chairs. The disappointment list just goes on and on and I would not recommend going.
Our room was good. Not great, but good. It seemed clean and had comfortable beds. It was lacking though for the price point. For instance, no toiletries besides 3 large pump bottles of shampoo in the shower (that smelled terrible) and a travel size lotion that smelled as bad as the shampoo. Definitely not what you would expect from what is supposed to be a Grand Resort.
I would like to give props to our bartender, Michael, at Evolve. He offered great customer service and made some great cocktails!
We just checked in. I guess it’s a basement room? There is literally no overhead light. So, it’s dark, like a basement. We walked into the room and were hit by the smell of mold and old wet things. So, it smells just like a basement. I will never come back here. The room looks decent, but since it’s dark, it feels dirty. Like, what are they hiding. Just yuck. I was looking forward to this, and now I’m just waiting for my allergies to go into overdrive from the mildew or mold in this room. This is anything other than Grand.

We had high expectations for our two night stay for a family members wedding, since it was voted the #1 resort in the Midwest by Conde Nast. We were disappointed with multiple aspects of our stay, especially for the price point. The rooms were just okay, and nothing special for the price point. When we first arrived we needed to change rooms due to loud families, and the front desk did accommodate our request. The new room did have a nicer view overlooking the lake and fountains. The cleanliness of the room could be improved as there was hair on the ceiling in the bathroom. We also needed to call a couple times to request housekeeping after our first night. The resort had 3 weddings on Saturday night, and it was convenient to walk to the reception. The problem came at 2am when there were multiple people in the hallway making noise. We called the front desk and they said they were sending security. If you know you have weddings with open bars, then security needs to make sure when receptions end people do not congregate in the hotel hallways. Overall we were disappointed with our stay, and would not recommend the elevated price for an underwhelming experience. When I mentioned these concerns on checkout they did remove the resort fee on our final bill.
I am writing to provide feedback regarding my recent stay, which was unfortunately quite underwhelming. While the property's beauty was evident and initially raised our hopes for a relaxing staycation, several issues with attention to detail and service fell far short of our expectations.
Upon our arrival, we discovered that housekeeping had neglected to remove items left by the previous guests, including undergarments. This was a very unpleasant and unsanitary start to our stay and a significant oversight.
Our experience at the lobby bar was also disappointing due to consistently slow service. On multiple occasions, we had to approach the counter ourselves to check on the status of our order, which diminished our ability to relax and enjoy our time.
Finally, the service experience at the spa was not up to the standard one would expect for the price. The quality of the couples massage was subpar, and we were concerned to witness staff members bickering among themselves at the front desk.
I hope this constructive feedback will encourage you to address these systemic issues. I note that other reviews point to similar service-related problems, and I trust that the management team will take the necessary measures to improve the guest experience.
This place had a lot of amazing things but my criticism is that some of the rooms are not very safe and the staff don't really seem to care about when risky things happen. Some things were also kinda disturbing while I was there.
Last night there was rain and the ceiling in my room popped open and rain got in resulting my luggage to get soaked and my devices to get water damage. My luggage was not my main concern though, my main concern is that the TV in the room was soaked and that could have been dangerous. The staff found out what happened and said to me "That must have been a shock to wake up to" then gave me a card for free ice cream. That made me more upset, but I kept quiet.
We did get a new room but the new room had signs of previous ceiling leakage in the exact same spot as my previous room.
Another thing that happened is after that I went to get something and I saw a random staff member restocking things and I said its okay and they don't need to rush but then they said something disturbing. They said that theres no taking their time here or they would get in trouble and they speed walked away. How are these smaller staff members being treated behind the scenes?
I feel bad leaving a low review but I wanted to say something as this isnt okay.
