About

Thrift Store
The vision of our 501(c3) nonprofit organization is that ALL people have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work.Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is based in Nashville, Tenn. The agency serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee, operating 30 retail stores and two outlet stores, about 53 Donation Express Centers and 13 Career Solutions Centers. The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.

I have shopped at Goodwill Vann Drive several times in the past and have found some craftsman made items such as tableware etc that are not found in regular stores outside of the big cities. It was the first time I looked at clothing for a specific item and noticed some were a little spotty and dusty looking. I asked an assistant because I had always believed that clothing etc donations were washed before being put out for sale. The assistant told me that they used to wash everything but for some time now they have just put items out for sale without doing that, but what could the assistant do about it?. I'm concerned that this is what Goodwill is doing now. The possibility of dirty clothes apart there is also the possibility of bugs etc being in the clothes donated and I don't think anybody wants to carry that kind of thing into their home. Regardless of the owner's claims, my experience of the state of some items says their procedures are ineffective. I'm put off from visiting Goodwill in the future because of this.

This has definitely got to be the most well run goodwill my wife and I have been in. We travel all over the country and she loves to thrift. Just saw this on the side of interstate 40. Whoever the manager is of this facility they are managing well!
