About

Thrift Store
The vision of our 501(c3) nonprofit organization is that ALL people have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work.Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is based in Nashville, Tenn. The agency serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee, operating 30 retail stores and two outlet stores, about 53 Donation Express Centers and 13 Career Solutions Centers. The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.

Staff is very nice but the store isn't very organized. There's too many clothes jammed onto racks to look properly and the rest of the store is in disarray. Quite frankly it needs a good cleaning too

I stopped by Goodwill today to purchase some books that were on the color tag discount and one additional item that was not. As a military service member, I asked to use the military discount as I know it only applies on Thursdays. I understood that the discount would only apply to my one non-sale item, since tag color items can’t be combined with the military discount. The cashier who rang me up was new but very kind and professional. However, the assistant manager who stepped in to help was extremely rude. Instead of simply clarifying the policy, she repeatedly made dismissive comments about how it “didn’t really matter” since the discount would only apply to one item anyway as if adding the discount for my one item was unnecessary. Her tone was condescending and unprofessional. I don’t expect special treatment, but I do expect to be treated with respect as a customer. A little kindness and professionalism goes a long way, especially when the cashier was already doing her best. This experience left me with a negative impression of management at this location.

Every Goodwill I've ever been to, hangs their dresses on racks that are higher than all the other clothes racks. That wouldn't be a problem if their dresses weren't always crammed together so tight that after 5 minutes your arms are sore from having to reach up & struggle what each one looks like! If they want those dresses to sell, they NEED TO CHANGE THEIR SYSTEM of hanging!
