The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.

Prices as high or higher than buying item new....so much for sense of charity. They get items for free then gouge those in need who are willing to buy things secondhand!

I have been shopping at the Springfield Goodwill for years, but today was by far the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. The cashier was older, gray haired, and taller and was absolutely the rudest person I've met ***(I went back and looked at my receipt and the cashier's name was Linn B)***. She questioned every tag that I had regardless of color. She tried to peel every tag off with her nails. She told me it wasn't possible for me to have some items because the price tags are recycled every 4 weeks. I had something that was dirty that the tag fell off because it was so dirty it wouldn't stick; she told me that it wasn't possibly the right tag. If she couldn't get a tag to scan, she said I was trying to rip off Goodwill. For instance, an ottoman bar code wouldn't scan, but the tag had the same price handwritten on the other half. When a tennis racket tag wouldn't scan, I went and got one on the shelf with the same price! Shopper beware...never had someone be so rude!

I was amazed when I walked in, clean, organized, I could find everything, everyone was kind saying good morning.... Then I got to the toys. Apparently you can't touch the toys until they are on the shelf, like not in any basket. But the woman who puts the toys out had her friends there following her with the cart, and she had all these really nice toys set out for her on the top of the basket. So I'm not trying to fight over any toys so I let the woman and her friend pass me and I wait about 5 seconds before I walk to the toys, and sure enough her friends had taken all of the toys she had set out for them. I guess this is how these places work, the employees let their friends and family in for the good stuff first. I asked the employee what happened how literally all is the toys we're gone, and she just pretended she didn't understand me. It saddened me bc this was the nicest goodwill I've ever been in. Just sad
