I was in Chicago Downtown for just one day and I wanted to try Chicago style Pizza while I am in Chicago.
I went for Goirdano's and I can confidently say that the place did justice to Deep Dish style.
We tried one All Vegie Deep Dish and another Chicago Tavern style customized with chicken breasts.
Both of them were outstanding. The deep dish was flavourful and Cheesy while the thin crust has this smoky flavour which made it stand out.
The ambience is great, the service is outstanding. We certainly annoyed our server but he kept a cool head and served us well with some "not regular" requests.
One thing to callout will be that please ensure you have enough time. The baking time is 45 minutes. So you are gonna wait a while if you order Pizza here.
We dined here on 10/17 for dinner and were really disappointed. We waited about 45 minutes for a table and were asked to preorder our pizza while waiting, which we didn’t mind. But after we were seated, it took another 40 minutes for the pizza to arrive. The other table arrived like 20mins after we have seated and they got their pizza pretty quick! So I was wondering maybe they missed our preordered pizza!? What’s the point of preordering if it still takes that long?
Service was also lacking. Our server, Ana, was defensive when we followed up about our order and didn’t acknowledge the delay or inconvenience. something you’d expect from someone in hospitality- to alteast acknowledge customers frustrations. No drink refills were offered, and we barely saw her throughout the meal.
To top it off, she gave our bill to another table, and they ended up paying for it. She just waited for the other table to leave then took the bill and gave it to us. This reflects poorly on the service overall.

⭐️ One Star for Giordano’s at Navy Pier — A Complete Disaster ⭐️
I came to Chicago as a visitor, specifically to run the marathon — and I was genuinely excited for this dinner. I’d heard so much about deep dish pizza being a Chicago specialty, and Giordano’s at Navy Pier was supposed to be one of the iconic spots. I had high hopes. What I got instead was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
I arrived at 9 Oct and I booked a table two days in advance. We arrived early, saw our reservation on their iPad, and pointed it out. The host looked at me and said, “Is this really you?” — with a tone that made me feel like I was being accused of something. I was so taken aback I just said “What?” and she immediately snapped, “Name and phone number.” I gave it to her, annoyed, and even offered to show the confirmation email. She replied, “OK, but you still can’t come in yet.” Fine. Technically we were early. So we walked around.
They told us pizza takes 45 minutes, so we placed our order ahead of time.
When we were finally seated, we waited 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We wanted to order salads and beer, but had to grab a staff member who was just passing by. Only then could we place our order.
We finished our salads and still no pizza. I asked when it would be ready — they said another 15 minutes. Let me break this down:
• Pizza ordered at 7:20
• Seated at 7:40
• Salads ordered around 8:00
• Pizza finally not arrived at 9:00
Are you kidding me?! That’s nearly two hours for a pizza we ordered in advance. We ended up walking out.
And here’s the worst part: other tables seated at the same time as us got their food — including pizza — way earlier. So what happened to ours? Did they forget? Did they just not care?
Staff kept saying “Sorry, we’re busy.” That’s not good enough. This wasn’t just bad service — it was chaotic, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. I’ve had better treatment at fast food joints.
I trusted the hype from YouTubers and food blogs — what a mistake. This place is a tourist trap with no regard for customer experience. The food might be famous, but the service is infamous.
👎 Never coming back. Save yourself the headache. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Went yesterday naturally I expected it to be busy as it was a Saturday. Told me 90 minutes wait but really wanted to try this place as a tourist. We pre ordered the pizza thought it strange you cant order starters and sides same time. 2 hours later still not received a text to say it was ready. Walked over told us to sit and wait. Eventually got our table and then we waited more than 15 mins to get some one to take our drinks order and extras. The pizza came quickly and yes it was gorgeous really enjoyed it but we ordered so e chicken strips and a side of fries as well they never came. Eventually I pulled a waitress to say look cancel the rest if the order its not acceptable waiting fir a starter after you finish the main course. The other waitress came over saying the crew had a changeover blah blah I said look its not acceptable after waiting so long. No one came over to ask if mire drinks wanted or how the food was which are the very basics of service. The girl took my money never came back with the change or nothing. Staff weren't bothered or even made eye contact as we left. This is shocking customer service I personally wouldn't go again its expensive for what it is and the staff need proper training and managing as well.

Worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a loooong time. After being seated and waiting for assistance, we had to ask for our server. When Vanessa came to the table and I asked what ingredients were in the different deep dish pizzas I was met with attitude and resistance. We placed our order. Each time she came to the table she said nothing, just placed whatever item she was bring down and walked away. We finished our appetizers and stacked our plates on the side of the table, no one picked them up. The wait for deep dish was 45 minutes, I understand, Vanessa never came back to the table to ask if we needed anything. Both my husband and I had finished our drinks, no offer for a refill. The table seated 10 minutes after us received their pizza which prompted us to find Vanessa and ask if our pizza was ready. She came back with a burnt pizza. I began to explain my concerns with the service. Vanessa rolled her eyes and asked if I wanted the manager. The manager comp'd our pizza but it was a terrible experience. When the table next to us got up and walked out we should've taken that as a sign.
