I've been a customer here for over 45 years. This is probably the worst shape it's been in during that time. While the single employee was polite and helpful, it is obvious some food preparation training is needed. And what should be one of the highlights of a visit, the beloved Manske Roll, was a sad, presentation altogether, the bread was old, the glaze was separating after the nuclear blast of the microwave. Train is an absolute must, or it will be the oldest restaurant to fade in to the annals of history.

BEWARE!! I have nothing but love for Gil’s and the Manske roll bakery, but that establishment is gone. Gil’s no longer exists!! It had been replaced by some 8-ball place but they still market themselves as if they’re Gil’s. The atmosphere they had before is completely gone and it’s been replaced with pool tables as if they’re some type of bar. The food is alright and it’s a bit more expensive than before. The burger I had was reminiscent of one from Burger King.

First off let me.say this.place has REALLY good burgers. I enjoyed mine with fries....very well seasoned. All the veggies were fresh as well. Unfortunately, the manske rolls I purchased didn't taste fresh at all. I really wanted to.like them because they appeared appetizing but once I tasted them I knew they had been sitting out. I bought 4 and my coworkers agreed with me. Maybe if I would have come earlier they'd have a fresher taste but overall the food is great...bakery kinda has some improvements to do.

I’m not sure when it happened, but this is not the same Gil’s it used to be. Used to love coming here but they’ve changed everything. The fries are completely different and chewy. The burger patty was dry and only seasoned with black pepper- or at least that’s all it tasted like. I remember the buns used to be fresh baked, now I’m not so sure as they tasted store bought. Even details like using red onion instead of white (like they used to) have been changed. This place used to have a really great burger and now, it tastes worse than a backyard burger. I’m convinced the reviews raving about the food were not around 10 years ago when you could get good food. They’ve also changed from a family-oriented place to clearly tailored for college students with pool tables in the middle of the place. I regret to say that you’re better off going to Whataburger.
