I set up an appointment for an estimate and was pushed into setting up installation for a price that could not be beat. I was told I had to lock in by paying the full price up front and then it was decreased to half. I ended up writing a check for half then realized one of my larger payments had not cleared my account and called the sales consultant to let him know that I would be stoping payment and taking the time to get other quotes. I asked for the quote to be sent and I was told time would be needed to back out of the sale and then they could generate a new invoice as an estimate. I got that estimate and it was not very transparent. No brands other than Genz Ryan were quoted and all I had was model numbers and not actually universal descriptions that competitors could ensure they are comparing apples to apples. Genz was not the most expensive, but they were the least transparent and only had a one year warranty for labor while competitors matched parts and labor at 10 years. Due to the lack of transparency and less appealing labor warranty, Genz Ryan was no longer under consideration. I provided detailed feedback to my sales consultant and asked that my home service plan be cancelled. His only reply was to contact customer service. I contacted customer service and was told that my installation was still scheduled and everything was still active yet I received an estimate that I was told was delayed because I pulled back the payment and everything had to be updated to pending. I was also told all competitors would want money to hold an appt and this was not the case either. Seems like backing me into a deal and locking in on a sale was the only concern and I’m glad I second guessed trusting someone just because they seemed nice and like they knew what they were talking about. Always explore competitors and get at least 3 estimates. The flaws of this organization became very clear after just one additional quote and I did not tell the competitor that I already had one, but I did make note of how clear information was and how others chose to keep the visit an estimate and not back me into and uninformed deal. This level of professionalism and lack of transparency is shocking for an organization of this size.

I needed to repair my outside faucet, so I contacted Genz Ryan. They have been in business for 75 years and are accredited by the BBB. They took my information and scheduled a plumber the same day. Text updates were sent to me to alert me that the plumber was on the way. Ryan Addyman arrived and introduced himself. He did a complimentary check on the furnace, water softener and water heater. The estimate was prepared and was explained clearly. The job was completed and he cleaned up and couldn’t even tell he had done the repairs. I would recommend Ryan and would use them again.

We worked with Cesar, our service technician. Cesar had a very professional and friendly style. He initially was doing a water heater flush and fill. On inspection he found serious sediment build up that would have been difficult to address with our older water heater. He also found high water pressure in our system that indicated a failure of the pressure reduction valve in the main water line. Cesar clearly explained the issues he found and provided several options that would address these issues. After reviewing the options and pricing, we agreed on replacing our old water heater with a new Rheem electric water heater and replacing the faulty pressure reduction valve. Cesar then obtained all the parts needed and returned that same afternoon to complete the installation. After completion, Cesar reviewed his work with us, explaining each system component and recommendations for future annual maintenance that would keep our system functioning for the life of the components installed. All reconnections were professionally installed, and the workplace was left clean and dry. It was a pleasure working with Cesar as he continued our history of professional home maintenance services received from Genz Ryan technicians over the years.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I normally don’t leave reviews, but after receiving multiple emails and automated texts asking for one, I felt I had to warn others.
The technician who came out was polite and friendly, but everything he said was a scripted sales pitch. He acted overly concerned about my home and started dropping lines like “prices are going up next year, you won’t find a better deal than today,” and “I’m overqualified for this job, so you can trust me.” It all felt manipulative.
Our central AC had stopped working, so he checked it along with the furnace (which was running just fine). He told me the compressor was broken, claimed replacing it would be pointless because it would “break right away,” and insisted we needed to replace both the AC unit and furnace.
He quoted me $7,000 for their cheapest AC unit and pushed me to sign a same-day contract. He even tried to watch me fill out the loan application on the spot, then called me several times that same night when I said I wanted to discuss it with my husband. It was extremely uncomfortable and felt predatory.
Thankfully, I called CenterPoint Energy for a second opinion. Their technician checked the system, replaced the compressor, and the AC started working again—at no additional cost since we’re already on a service plan.
This company tried to pressure me into a $7,000 purchase I did not need. They are after your money, not your best interest. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.
