Yes, we work with any breed, size or issue!
How are you different from other trainers?
We are different from other dog trainers in many ways. However, the biggest difference between Fido Fidelis and other trainers is, that we take a true custom, balanced approach to training your dog as well as you. This is why we offer Commitment Based Training! No matter what your dog's issue or how long the training may take we will not give up on your dog or you!
What area do you cover?
Our main service area covers North and Central NJ as well as, Southern NY State. If you are not sure if you fall in our service area, we would love to speak with you!
Can't I just learn to train my dog online?
If you are looking for the basics of training (sit,paw/shake, etc.), there are a lot of resources available to you, and we encourage you to do research on any training available (including ours). The cases we get require professional help. And for some people and dogs having a skilled guide through the process, can make good results... great results.
What if my dog already knows the basics and just needs help with some other behaviors?
We understand that plenty of owners and dogs have gone through training already. Our philosophy is to start every dog and owner at the beginning, because something was missed in the last round of training, otherwise your dog would not be displaying the behaviors you are concerned with. Likely you and your dog both still need some training on how to properly communicate with each other and the most effective and efficient way to get the results you want, is to start you both from the beginning and rebuild the relationship between you and your dog.
What training tools and methods do you use?
We use everything from treats, toys, praise, and pets all the way to e-collars and prong collars to help dogs learn. Our training is set out to give you the safest, easiest and most effective way to have a well-behaved and obedient dog for their lifetime. Our philosophy is about balance, getting positive consequences for desired behaviors and negative consequences for undesired behaviors. Making sure to hold both the owners and the dogs accountable for their actions and inactions and reward them for the things they do right.
Why do you use training collars?
We use training collars such as Sprenger prong collars and Ecollar Technologies Ecollars because they are effective at communicating to the dog what we expect from them. Time and time again they have proven to be most efficent and most humane tools to help train dogs and have them achieve a level of freedom both they and their owners did not think was possible. While the sensations from both of those training collars can sometimes be slightly uncomfortable, they are some of the safest and most effective tools you can use to communicate with your dog as to what you expect from them. We even start each training off by letting the owners feel the sensations for themselves to better understand how they work.
Do you work with multiple dog homes?
Yes. Many of our clients have two or more dogs in the home.
I've been told that my dog is beyond help. Is that true?
Absolutely not!!! Your dog probably hasn't been told what they can and can not do in a way that they understand. We can help you bridge that gap in communication!
