  Have been coming here for years without issues until recently our teens went into the store to grab a bulb for their reptile tank, something they have done on numerous occasions. On this day they were stopped and told to leave the store as it is policy that anyone under 18 be accompanied by an adult. This policy wasn’t posted anywhere in the store, isn’t mentioned online, nor can corporate provide a copy of such a policy. They confirmed that our children were not disruptive nor wandering around the store, just carrying their item towards the front to check out. The lack of communication and the absolute audacity to kick children out of a store that they have been coming to for years without so much as a warning is insane to me. I get the policy, even. If it were posted and visible to customers then absolutely would have no issue. But this was seemingly decided and enforced overnight causing distress and confusion. Their corporate response was “children cannot be running around the store…” Do you mean “shopping”? I think both the Millpond store and their corporate entity need a lesson in shopping versus loitering and then an extra ten lessons on how to post appropriate signage and deescalating tense situations instead of kicking well-behaved children out of their store with no warning. If the public don’t know about your “policy” (ie posted online or with signage around the store) then it is less policy and more an excuse to target and humiliate.
