I got the stew beef enchiladas con queso Blanco meal. They brought out something with a brown sauce on it. I said I ordered it with the white cheese sauce. They corrected the order. The beans looked dark as night and I couldn't stomach more than a small bits. The rice tasted wet and like Uncle Ben's microwaved Spanish rice but somehow worse. The "stew beef" on God tasted like Dinty Moore canned beef stew, with the gravy, with zero Mexican seasonings, wrapped in a dry tortilla and covered in a white sauce that had literally no flavor I could not taste a thing and drowned in cheap cheese. This canned dog food cost $28. They charge for refills on pop, and chips and salsa aren't complimentary even though they ask you if you want any and don't disclose they're not free. The chips aren't tortilla chips. They're more like thick pita chips that aren't fresh. Also, you have to walk the bill up to them, as if it's so difficult for the waitress to grab the bill. I wanted to leave so bad because the smell of their meat was absolutely disgusting, I wouldn't feed it to my dog, it should be illegal to run a restaurant with food this terrible and expensive. I felt physically ill upon having a few bites. I didn't say anything because my spouses grandfather took us there and I have manners. Do not give this place your money. It should be shut down. Using canned meat. And nothing authentic Mexican about it. Go to El Potrero in Mt Morris. Half the price, great every time. Real food that hasn't sat for a week. I am so disgusted I can't even describe the horror. Oh! And there were two waitresses who waited on us who were Hispanic which they seemed to blame on the confusion and literally said to us "we're two different people in case you didn't notice" when they messed up twice. We're like, um yeah we know? Like that wasn't a thing at all but way to impose that? Weird. The whole situation was awkward and odd. I wouldn't eat their food if they paid me $200. Taco Bell is superior.

We came in about 45 minutes before they closed and were last ones to leave. Staff was patient and friendly! Food was amazing and portions are enough for a meal the next day! Looking forward to their expansion across the street!

Overpriced big time, chips should be complimentary as an order of fajitas was 27 bucks and extra tortilla is a dollar 29, won't be back, we could have had a steak somewhere for that price!

First time eating here will also be our last. I wanted to order chicken street tacos and was told that I could only get steak and it could not be substituted. Very frustrating if you don't eat red meat. We were not told that the chips and salsa cost money..usually their free at other establishment s. The hamburger meat my husband got had no seasoning and was very bland. The side of beans we did order were crusty and seemed old. While we do enjoy supporting local businesses our total bill was over $65 dollars and for the food that was served to us, it was absolutely not worth what they were charging. We will avoid this place and spend our money elsewhere. On a plus the chips and salsa was good.

We haven’t been in the area for about 8 years. We were looking forward to dining here again. Their gravy on the wet burritos is unique and delicious. After seeing some reviews we were apprehensive about coming back, but we’re sure glad we did! It was just as good or better as before. My husband got the chicken fajita salad and was very pleased with it too. We’re here for several days and will be sure to eat here again before we leave. Thank you El Charrito’s!!
