They were excellent! I had my pellet stove cleaned by someone else who suggested that I have the chimney cleaned also and needed a new liner to extend to the top of the chimney and to have a topper placed so water would not go in. So I called ECC Chimney. They found that the cleaning process wasn't done completely leaving soot on the shelf just above the fireplace opening towards the full chimney. They vacuumed out 6 gal of soot after getting the guys face completely covered!!! Thank you Armond Labbe for being so thorough.

Frequently Asked Questions About ECC Chimney Service
How often should my chimney be cleaned?
The frequency of chimney cleaning is determined by the extent of creosote accumulation. The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) advises that chimneys should undergo annual inspections to assess cleaning needs.
What are the signs that a chimney needs to be cleaned?
Indicators that your chimney requires cleaning include decreased fire performance, visible oil stains, evidence of animal intrusion, inadequate ventilation, and several other factors. A professional inspection can confirm if cleaning is necessary.
Do I need a chimney cap?
Indeed, a chimney cap is highly recommended. It serves as a protective measure against the entry of rain, snow, animals, and debris into your chimney, helping to maintain its functionality and safety.
Are you licensed and insured?
Certainly. Our chimney sweep service is fully licensed and insured to operate in both Rhode Island and Connecticut, ensuring professional and protected service for our clients.
How often should I clean my wood stove?
For wood stoves, we recommend a minimum of one thorough cleaning annually. However, depending on usage, multiple cleanings throughout the year may be beneficial for optimal performance and safety.
Do you service pellet, wood and gas stoves?
Affirmative. Our chimney sweep service is fully equipped and trained to handle all types of stoves, including pellet, wood, and gas varieties, ensuring comprehensive care for your heating systems.
How do I know what level of creosote buildup I have in my chimney?
Creosote buildup is categorized into four levels based on its appearance and consistency. The first degree is a flaky, soot-like deposit that's easily removable. The second degree forms a sticky, tar-like layer. The third degree creates a hard, glossy crust, significantly increasing fire risk. The fourth degree, or glazed creosote, is an extremely hard, shiny layer that adheres strongly to the chimney and is highly flammable. Professional inspection is recommended to accurately determine the level of buildup in your chimney.
