Called the team at E&M on Thursday and they had me fixed up Monday before lunch. Super easy to work with. Saved me thousands of dollars. Can’t recommend them enough.

While not solely on the company, the process on the R22 is ridiculous and in my opinion a scam. I just wanted my unit fixed, not serviced, although it did need it. I should have been asked before adding refrigerant and cleaning. The capacitor was bad and should have been all that was done without consulting me first. I'm still satisfied with my serviceman and E&M.

I noticed my A/C had stopped running on a Thursday morning. I called E&M and they had someone out to fix it that day. Later that night it stopped again. I texted the E &M after hours service. They had someone out the next morning and found something else causing the problem. Great service. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions About E&M Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning
What is the SEER rating?
The seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) measures the efficiency of heating and cooling equipment. It represents the cooling output per dollar of electricity consumed, compared to other systems. SEER ratings typically range from 13 to 21, with higher numbers indicating greater efficiency. For instance, a 3-ton unit might have a SEER rating of 13, 14, or 15.
Why is the SEER rating on the Energy Guide different than what my dealer quoted?
The SEER rating of a system is determined by the combination of equipment installed in your home. While each split system cooling unit has a nominal SEER rating, this can be increased by upgrading the indoor unit within the same series. Both outdoor equipment (heat pump or air conditioner) and indoor equipment (evaporator coil and furnace, or air handler) contribute significantly to the overall rating.
Why should I have regular (or preventive) maintenance? And how often should I have it performed?
Regular maintenance is crucial for maximizing the lifespan of your heating and cooling systems and preventing common equipment failures. These systems endure significant wear and tear due to constant operation. Preventive maintenance inspections can identify issues such as leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires, and corroded electrical contacts. It's advisable to schedule maintenance regularly to ensure optimal efficiency and avoid potential future problems.
What equipment requires regular (or preventive) maintenance?
Heat pumps and air conditioners should undergo professional maintenance twice yearly, in spring and fall. For boiler and furnace systems, inspections should cover ductwork, pipes, dampers, valves, chimney, registers, radiators, pumps, blowers, fuel lines, oil tank, and all components of the furnace and boiler. Heat pump and air conditioning unit inspections should also include examinations of the fan, compressor, indoor and outdoor coils, and refrigerant lines.
I need help troubleshooting a problem with my equipment.
As your local Trane dealer, E&M Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning is well-equipped to assist with troubleshooting. We also have access to Trane's network of troubleshooting technicians at distribution centers nationwide. In cases requiring additional factory support, we will contact our factory-supported service managers for assistance.
What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?
Programmable thermostats offer greater accuracy and efficiency compared to mercury-containing thermostats due to their electronic nature. They allow for automatic temperature control at different times of the day without manual adjustment. This automation ensures consistent temperature management without the risk of forgetting to change settings.
What type of filter should I use? And how often should I replace it?
While standard filters maintain system and ductwork cleanliness, media air cleaners are more effective for improving indoor air quality. A media filter, positioned between the main return duct and blower cabinet, can enhance dust and particle removal up to seven times more than a standard filter. Pleated media filters offer even higher filtration, removing various particles including airborne viruses. It's important to select a filter that matches your blower's capacity. For optimal performance, disposable filters should be replaced monthly, while washable filters should be cleaned monthly.
Why can't I find the correct size furnace filter at my local home improvement store for my Trane Brand Equipment?
Trane filters are manufactured using higher-quality materials than typical disposable filters found in retail stores. As a result, replacement Trane filters are exclusively available through authorized Trane dealers. It's worth noting that some Trane filters are reusable and can be hand-washed in cold water.
Where can I get parts for my Trane equipment?
As an authorized Trane dealer, E&M Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning is the most reliable source for identifying and supplying the correct, up-to-date parts for your system. We can also provide information on pricing and availability of Trane components.
What does my warranty cover?
The standard factory warranty from Trane covers parts that fail due to defects during the warranty period. Labor costs are not included in this coverage. Your warranty certificate, which contains specific information about model numbers, serial numbers, and installation dates, was provided in your homeowner information packet. E&M Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning registers all Trane equipment we install to ensure your 10-year parts warranty. If you can't locate your warranty certificate, we can provide that information. Additionally, with our Total Comfort Plan, you'll receive a ten-year parts and labor warranty on your Trane equipment.
