The quality of their service has degraded over the last decade pretty significantly. My previous rating was four out of five, but due to countless power outages over the last few years they have forced me to reconsider how I rate this utility. First off, when you try to get in touch with someone to get information about your power status, it will take you hours of dealing with foreign call center agents before actually getting to a DTE employee here in the Detroit area. The workmanship is sketch, and the infrastructure is dilapidating just as fast as it is falling out of technical relevancy. Years back, I would Go an entire year with only a couple of outages. Now it's like I'm losing power every time there's a gust wind over 20 mph, in a given year, I have probably lossed power six or seven times. Up triple from years back when I would only lose it about twice, usually once or twice in the winter, and occasionally once during the summer. Nowadays, when the power goes out, if you live in a middle or lower income area, they will likely prioritize you last during outages. If it goes out during the night, DTE prioritizes profits over staffing and employee compensation, so they minimize the amount of staff they have on their night shift for emergencies, so they don't have to pay them extra contingencies. Of course. It's all about profits. So when we lose power, we usually have to wait all night until day shift. Finally rolls in after at least 9:00 a.m.. so it's becoming more and more common that you are out of power for longer periods of time. Last power outage was well over 14 hours, it ruined a lot of the food in my refrigerator, it has sabotaged me getting to work before, it has sabotaged a birthday party, it has just gotten to a point where I have to write a review this ridiculous. Dear DTE, that is a horrible name for your company, most people now associate Edison with being a profit monger, intellectual thief, and bully. But it accurately describes the current state of this corrupt business. You guys have already failed time and time again. I know there are simpletons out there who will just say be happy you have power. If we're comparing ourselves to 2nd, 3rd and 4th world Nations, yeah we are lucky. But when we compare our infrastructures of our larger cities to other larger cities in other developed nations, we fail. The companies have set up the bare minimum infrastructure to siphon money out of everyone's hands and they provide the bare minimum service they can get away with until people come knocking on their door, Demanding answers
