DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) Inc. is a leading branded footwear and accessories retailer that offers a huge selection of brand name and designer footwear and accessories for women, men, and kids. DSW opened its first store in July 1991 in Dublin, Ohio, and has since grown to operate more than 400 stores across the United States, as well small format shop-in-shop locations.
The DSW brand promise is “Designer shoes. Warehouse prices.” and the company delivers an experience of “breathtaking assortment, irresistible value, and simple convenience.” DSW stores average approximately 22,000 square feet and stock nearly 25,000 pairs of shoes per location.
Made a special trip to buy school shoes from DSW because I am a teacher. Just to find out the teacher discount that DSW did last August did not return. I guess I was lucky to get the discount last year. DSW's corporate office canceled the teacher discount halfway through August last year due to the discount being over used. That is why I gave DSW 4 stars instead of 5. I took away a star because 5 stars get over used.

I recently shopped at DSW and was really disappointed with the experience. The employees were extremely pushy about joining their rewards program. Even after I politely said, “I just want to buy shoes,” they kept going on and on about why I needed to sign up and would not relent even after I asked them to drop. They would not let me simply buy they shoes—they kept asking me over and over to join the rewards program and ask that I give them my phone number.
It made what should have been a quick, pleasant purchase feel uncomfortable and pressured. I understand that stores promote their programs, but there’s a big difference between offering it once and repeatedly pushing and becoming aggressive even after a customer has declined. I left feeling frustrated rather than excited about my purchase.

Huge store. Lots of shoes and several lower cost options. They allow returns on breaking shoes that were somewhat used, but clearly are not holding up. I like the clearance options and like to try on the hip new kicks.
