From Dr. Earl Woolley's speech entitled Building Your Future: "We shall never cease to learn, unless we apostatize from the religion of Jesus Christ. True education seeks to make men and women not only good mathematicians, proficient linguists, profound scientists, or brilliant literary lights, but also honest men with virtue, temperance, and brotherly love." I apostatized from the LDS church in their eyes and as a moral act had my name removed from it's records after years of harassment in the church, including while a mother with a young family going through a divorce in Bishop Woolley's ward. As much as I appreciate the grapes they brought from the orchard in their garden after we lost our home, Bishop Woolley had been "counseling" with my ex-husband for a year regarding running my credit cards up 30K without my knowledge and finally bullying me into signing a quit claim so he could take out a no-doc loan and take more off of the family home than it was worth. When my ex was finally in jail after I went to the authorities, Bishop Woolley called me into his office with the ward financial clerk present to explain to me what had been done to my young family of 5 now that I was their sole supporter on my disability income (I call it income because bishops expected me to pay tithing on it when I was active). When I saw immediately the house of cards about to fall and got angry, Bishop Woolley said, "typical." My ex had taken 40K off the family home besides the 30K in credit cards in my name only (I had 5 kids in 6 years and was not able to go over the finances with him). Typical would have been much more than that, I didn't need the ward financial clerk to explain anything to me, and when my name was on the home and my income supported us (I was not even awarded alimony), to secretly meet with my ex while we were married and both active in the ward about the 70K that he had deceitfully taken from us when I was the family's main support was not typical, it was sexist, deceitful and, if he didn't wear the religion's invisibility shield it was not reporting a crime, which wasn't the only crime he didn't report or refused to testify concerning his knowledge of. I was married at the time but what was taken from us was all based on deceit and Bishop Woolley was a party to the deceit. I am weeks away from finishing my 2nd graduate degree and finished 3 degrees after "apostatizing." I have developed the attributes Woolley talks about honestly, with work my bishops couldn't imagine and never shouldered themselves. Woolley wasn't the most deceitful bishop I had and not one of those I'd consider abusive (I've been shunned before too), but I lost my children's home and was so seriously set back financially there was no way to recover from it. Dr. Woolley, you still have more to learn than you have any idea. Typical.

This is where I took all my chemistry classes and labs. The building is relatively one of the newest buildings (1995)
