Frequently Asked Questions About Coomes Landscape Services
How long does it take for my grass to come in?
Sometimes your old grass will be killed off during your hardscaping installation process, or removed to install new lawn and sodding. With proper watering, it generally takes 9-15 days to start seeing new grass.
Can I weed-treat a new lawn?
Do not treat re-seeded grass for weeds until they are more mature.
Otherwise, you'll kill the new grass before it can establish itself. All new seeded lawns may have weeds in them, regardless of product quality.
How often should I prune my trees?
Pruning requirements vary by species. Generally, a yearly or bi-yearly corrective pruning to remove dead branches will help promote good health and avoid damage from ice storms which can break limbs off and damage plants.
Do patios require sealing? How often?
Patio sealing is not required (some patios come from the manufacturer pre-sealed), however, sealing your patio can prevent staining, especially hard-to-remove organic stains like leaf stains. If you seal your concrete patio, resealing can be considered every 3 years if desired to keep up aesthetic appearances.
Is waterfall maintenance required?
Generally, hardscaping waterfalls should be changed regularly to promote clean water and prevent buildup. We install 2 types of waterfalls: Pond and Filtered.
Pond waterfalls require a lot of maintenance and attention to the natural algae build-up. Sticks and other debris may prevent waterfall flow or discolor and cloud the water in your installation.
Filtered or pondless waterfalls require less maintenance as the water is always moving and there is less opportunity for build-up. Filters should be checked monthly while in operation and replaced when they get too dirty.
