Not a 5 star hotel but a 5 star value. Nice helpful staff. Great housekeeping The breakfast is included. Suggest trying the omelettes, really good. Cheap parking. We’ve stayed here 4 times. Will definitely return. The location is literally perfect. Easy walk to park, restaurants etc.
The hotel is in a great location and very walkable to many restaurants and Shaw park. It is an easy drive to Forest Park and downtown as well. They have a parking garage that is easy to get in and out of and parking was only $6 a night. We booked a king suite and brought our maltese with us and the pet fee is only $25/night. There are plenty of grassy areas in front of the hotel and within a couple blocks of the hotel. I also appreciate that there was no carpet in the room and the room was very clean. The bathroom was nicely updated and had great shower pressure and a digital control to turn the shower on and off and to adjust the water temperature. There was also a spacious mini fridge and microwave in the room as well. The breakfast was very good and included with our stay. The staff will seat you for breakfast and there is a buffet line with oatmeal, grits, pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy. There was a selection of bread and pastries, mixed fruit, and cereal as well. You can also order a waffle and omelet at the grill. We were happy with our stay and will be back when in the area.

I wish I could give a higher rating than 5/5.
Our room was spacious and decorated nicely with a state-of-the-art bathroom.
Staff were amazing, helpful, and caring. I was impressed with all I met. The manager is to be commended for creating a staff with extremely high standards for customer service.
The location works well for getting to many attractions in the city.
I hope to be a repeat customer.

Lovely hotel in a nice area!
The receptionist was great in explaining how to get to the parking garage. Since it was the weekend, parking was free!
The room was nice and the electronic shower controls were neat!
Breakfast was pretty decent with buffet style selections and made-to-order waffles and omelets.
We would definitely stay again.
We initially looked at hotels in downtown St Louis for a concert at the Enterprise Center. None of them were reasonable rates once you factored in parking. The friend joining me frequented this business district and liked some restaurants here, so we started scoping it out, and found Clayton Plaza Hotel. Even if I come back to St Louis to do the normal tourist trap downtown stuff, I'll be staying out here again.
The area around it is INCREDIBLY WALKABLE. I'm from a state where they just don't even try, so that was pleasant to see. And nice to be able to walk around for drinks and just toodle back to the hotel, nothing concerning at all.
Manynof the nearby restaurants had PLENTY of gluten free options as well!
The hotel is clearly an older building. It is also clearly a WELL maintained building. No mold or mildew issues, which my husband is heavily allergic to. He said the hallways by the pool set his sniffer off lightly, but that's to be expected. I was a bit worried the rooms would be heavily scented as we were on our way there, but we must have passed a room actively being cleaned, buecause our room was perfectly fine. No overwhelming cleaning smell.
The AC worked fine. They ACTUALLY had a vent in the bathroom to keep the humidity under control when you shower. The number of hotels that skimp on that is shocking... The bed was soft! A bit too soft maybe for me, but my husband slept like a log. Different firmness pillows were in the room, so you could use what you liked. Extra blankets in the closet for the cold boned.
Breakfast was included at no extra cost, LOVE THAT, since Hilton hikes their prices and took away their included breakfast.
The pool according to the website was saltwater! Someone at the front desk said it was chlorine, but if it was, it was NOT super smelly. Likely just the chlorine offgas from being a saltwater pool. It was indoor/outdoor with a little swim between path, just had to get your face and hair wet to use it. It also had a SIX FOOT section! It felt soooo good to actually stretch my legs in a pool again, even just treading water.
