I would not hire Chimney Sweep Specialists for any purpose. They swept the chimney, but left the wood stove insert's vent disconnected and piles of creosote around it and the sides of the insert.
They did not inspect the chimney nor provide any written report about the condition of the chimney. The chimney should be inspected with each cleaning.
I called multiple times over more than a month and have not received a response. They claim that because I did not complain about the vent within 30 days of the job in Sept, when I did not need to use the wood stove, that I would have to pay for them to finish the job I'd already paid for. Though it took a month of email and calls asking for a receipt and inspection report to receive a receipt that does not include the name of the company nor a description of the work and still no inspection report.
So, they do not stand behind their work, they do not finish the work, they do not do a complete job, and deserve zero confidence that they will leave you with a safe chimney.
I'd give them zero stars, but 1 seems to be the minimum.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chimney Sweep Specialist
What is creosote?
Creosote is a flammable, crusty buildup that forms in chimneys and stovepipes. It results from the condensation of unburned gases and tar-like liquids present in wood smoke. These substances adhere to the sides of the chimney, creating a fire hazard. For professional removal of creosote in Portland, OR, contact Chimney Sweep Specialist.
Why should I clean my chimney?
Regular chimney cleaning is essential to remove creosote buildup from the flue lining. Creosote is highly flammable and can accumulate over time. The Chimney Safety Institute of America states that even 1/4 inch of creosote is sufficient to cause a chimney fire that could damage the chimney or spread to other parts of the house. Additionally, cleaning reduces the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Creosote can appear black or brown and may be flaky, tar-like, or hardened. For professional chimney cleaning services in Portland, OR, contact us today.
How do I need to clean my chimney?
Chimney cleaning should be performed regularly. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual cleaning and inspection, or more frequently for heavily used fireplaces. This applies to both wood-burning and gas fireplaces. Even unused chimneys require cleaning and inspection due to potential animal nests in the flue. For professional chimney cleaning services in Portland, OR, please contact our company.
Why should I be concerned about maintaining/repairing my chimney?
Neglecting chimney maintenance and repairs can lead to several hazards. These include the release of toxic gases into your home, increased fire risk due to escaping flames or sparks, potential property damage from falling masonry, and significantly higher repair costs if left unaddressed. To enhance safety and reduce long-term expenses, contact our Portland, OR chimney sweep service promptly.
Why is creosote a problem?
Creosote poses three main issues for wood-burning systems. Firstly, it's corrosive to common chimney materials like steel and mortar. Secondly, it reduces the efficiency of wood stoves or fireplaces by acting as insulation. Lastly, and most importantly, creosote is highly flammable, presenting a significant fire hazard. For more information about creosote-related risks, please contact our chimney cleaning service in Portland, OR.
How do I confirm that my chimney is fire safe?
To ensure your chimney's fire safety, a professional inspection is necessary. Please contact our company for more information about scheduling an inspection.
If I'm purchasing a home, should I get the chimney inspected?
Yes, when purchasing a home, it is advisable to have the chimney inspected as part of the overall property assessment.
How often should a fireplace be cleaned?
The frequency of fireplace cleaning varies depending on several factors. Some jurisdictions mandate annual cleaning by law. Signs that indicate immediate cleaning is needed include back-drafting, smoking, or loss of heat. For primary heat sources, annual cleaning and inspection are recommended. Forbes suggests that fireplaces used four or more times per week should be cleaned each winter.
