About

University
Boasting 167,000 square feet of floor space, this center was the largest academic building in the Mountain West and BYU's first to have an elevator. When the building was renovated from 1995 through 1997, it was completely gutted and its steep lecture halls removed. The building houses the Physics and Astronomy; Geology; and Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science Departments, as well as the Pendulum Court restaurant. There are many hands-on physics demonstrations throughout the hallways and lobbies and a 16-inch telescope in the Orson Pratt Observatory.

If you aren't used to it, it can be a slightly maze-like building. Unfortunately, I'm not used to it, so it's easy for me to get lost. It's always a happy day though when I end up near the pendulum though. I'm definitely not going to touch it though. 10,000 ohms seems really powerful to me, and I do not need that many ohms flowing through me. One of the things on my bucket list is to have La-la Land moment inside the planetarium at the top.

I was Honorably Discharged from the US Air Force 12/1979, effective 3/1/1980. I began my upper division physics courses 1/4/1980 admitted as a PhD candidate 1/1/1981 and received my BS in Physics 4/1981. I stayed the summer to do research on second order phase transitions in the ferroelectric crystal barium titanate, and take organic chemistry. I left for Urbana, IL at the end of summer to begin my PhD studies in Biophysics at UIUC.
