If you are looking for a clean, well run, amazingly fun and organized camp experience for your children, LOOK NO FURTHER. My kids have been going for the past three years and this year the experience was no less amazing than years prior.
Specifics:
(1) The pick up and drop off (at least at our Williston Park location) is seamless. They have a wide window for both, taking the pressure off the scramble! That’s unheard of. They have an excellent system in place where the app accommodates upload of the photos of the adults that are authorized to pick up and drop off, and they require a quick signature upon release. They have phone numbers handy and are accessible if there are any changes to the parents' schedule. Also, by some crazy work of magic almost all of the employees somehow know your child's name AND face within the first few days! No joke. They see me pull up to pick-up (and sometimes I’m in a different car!) and use the walkie talkies to page for my boys to come up and be collected! Drop off is a piece of cake as well.
(2) The schedule is over the top. Your child can opt in or out for the “extras” and you can’t go wrong either way. Depending on the age group the extras are anything from Adventureland to a NY Mets game to a visit to the Petting Zoo to a Medieval Times trip to the water park at DeamWorks. They vary year by year but NEVER disappoint. The pricing of the extras is reasonable and always seems to reflect amazing group discounts. And if you opt in for NONE of them your child will still experience magic shows, color wars, dance/Zumba, bubble/foam parties, tie dye day, and REALLY amazing crafts, with the opportunity to cool down with video games and indoor “calmer” times as well. If your child loves the water there is no shortage of water slides and/or VISITS TO LOCAL POOLS if you permit. I don’t know HOW they maintain the crazy fun schedule they do, but it really makes the difference for my family.
(3) The communication all around is top notch. The app is well crafted, the emails are detailed and there are LIVE Q&A Sessions each season. They respond to emails quickly and will offer as much or a little guidance as you would like.
(4) They make lunch and snack time easy and will reach out if there are any issues food-wise. My son forgot his lunch one day and they made sure he didn’t go hungry when we couldn’t get back to drop it off! And they do a pizza party once a week if you opt in, which makes that day even easier for the parents! You can pack a brown bag lunch otherwise and they will keep in the fridge, and they will even heat up FOR your child if their lunch requires. You just have to give brief instructions.
(5) The staff is incredible. They are smiling, friendly, silly and engaging but they are COMPETENT most of all. You really feel like your children are in good hands when you drop them off and if you ever want an update just ask for a little extra feedback and they will know exactly how your child’s day was that day! They find a way to tune into each kids’ experience and meet them where they are. That’s rare.
My two older boys are ready joiners – they are quick to participate no matter what the event. My third son, not so much. He almost always needs coaxing to participate in activities and always wants to know “who else will be there”. There are two exceptions to this, without fail. His experience at Tae Cole Taekwondo and his experience at CAMPS R US! He asked me on the last day of camp this year WHEN IT STARTS AGAIN! And you know how at the other end you should expect your kids to “age out” of “camp” at some point? My oldest (going into 6th grade this year) looks forward to every day at camp as well. They have the age bracket thing down pat and REALLY tailor the program to meet all the kids’ needs.
I can’t say enough about this program. Don’t hesitate!!!! Just do it!
