- ATArleen TesmerJul 1, 20251.0I put their cabinets in an ordered a walnut butcher block for the counter top. When the installation was complete, I tried to seal the walnut with polyurethane. By the way, I am an experienced woodworker and furniture refinisher. There was a reaction with the glue used in the butcher block that caused clouding and sticky finish. I contacted General Finishes (a product I have used for years) who made the polyurethane and was told there was a problem with the glue used in the counter top. The store manager was given the pictures and forwarded to customer service. 5 weeks later I got a email (after repeated inquiries) the stain I used violated their warranty. I NEVER-stained the walnut, merely sealed with polyurethane. Their uninformed response and delay was and is unacceptable. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
