I took my 2 cats here for a well visit, about a year ago. Nice facilities, generally positive experience.
Yesterday, one of my cats had a sudden, concerning but probably not emergency reaction to something. I called them, sent a short video of the issue at their request, and was told they would review and call back telling me if I should bring her (cat) in. They did not respond.
I called back an hour later. They said again they would review and get back in touch. They still did not respond.
I'm not a hypochondriac for my cat. This was the first time I called them for guidance, and they (twice) left me hanging, worried about what to do.
Thankfully, my cat is fine, but this demonstrated that Bond Vet cannot be trusted to help you in potentially urgent situations. I am re-establishing care for my cats at a different vet.
And Bond Vet likes to respond to negative reviews by pretending to care and asking to get in touch with you regarding your negative experiences. To preempt their facade of empathy: I did get in touch with you. Twice. You ignored me.

We had taken our dog Vinny to three different vets over the past year for persistent itching and ear infections. Despite multiple visits, we weren’t getting results; just rotating prescriptions and vague advice. In mid-June, a previous vet recommended the Cytopoint allergy shot, which I was ready to approve at ~$280. But at the last minute, the vet tech told us Vinny was 0.4 lbs over the weight limit and we’d need to buy two shots at double the cost. I asked if we could just proceed with one shot, given how minor the overage was, and was told that legally they couldn’t do that. It felt like a rigid and profit-driven decision rather than a compassionate, case-by-case approach. So we left, frustrated and continued managing with Zyrtec, which helped, but only to a point.
Then everything changed in August. Vinny’s allergies spiraled out of control. He was scratching his ears until they bled. We tried to get him in with veterinary dermatologists, but none had openings for three months. In desperation, my husband and I took him to VEG ER for Pets in Alexandria, who were incredibly kind and transparent—they told us his case wasn’t urgent enough to justify ER prices and that they didn’t carry the allergy shot Vinny likely needed. Instead of just turning us away, they booked us a same-day appointment at Bond Vet.
By the time we got to Bond Vet, I was bracing for another disappointing experience. Instead, Dr. O’Brien exceeded every expectation. She listened—really listened. She didn’t dismiss us for home-cooking Vinny’s meals (something other vets have scoffed at); instead, she offered thoughtful education on nutrition, explained why grains matter (and why brown rice isn’t ideal), and—most memorably—connected Vinny’s early trauma (he was found as a stray in rural Virginia) to potential microbiome imbalance, which may contribute to both his allergies and fear-based reactivity.
Dr. O’Brien recommended prescription dog foods to supplement or replace our homemade meals, provided a full suite of affordable non-prescription treatments (eye drops, ear drops, shampoo), and administered the Cytopoint shot in a dosage for Vinny’s weight range that was cheaper than what we were quoted elsewhere.
Vinny is now thriving; no itching, no bleeding ears, no signs of discomfort.
I cannot overstate how much we appreciate Dr. O’Brien’s compassion, clinical depth, and willingness to meet us where we are as pet parents. She didn’t just treat symptoms; she treated the whole picture, and did so with care, nuance, and zero judgment.
Bond Vet has earned our trust, and Dr. O’Brien has earned our loyalty. Highly, highly recommend.
