Bob Nichols Paving provides residential and commercial asphalt paving, street, driveway, parking lot, and sealcoating and repair services in Frederick, MD, and surrounding areas.
Unprofessional. Hired them to extend and recoat my driveway. They ran over my neighbors bush and did not do anything about it. They left trash in my yard. They resealed my driveway, but resealed over dirt and tire tracks from their skid loader which shows. I called them 2x to come fix the problem. The guy said he would come by both times to look at it and never did.

Bob Nichols team was very professional and did a great job in both paving one driveway for my mother and sealed my own. Bob was easy to get a hold of and work with and they used a lot of product where I got my money’s worth on both jobs.

Two years ago, I watched Bob Nichols Paving install a new driveway in our neighborhood. I was impressed by there workmanship etc. I took a picture of the sign that they put at the end of this completed driveway. Fast forward to 2025. Bob and his crew just installed two French drains and resurfaced my driveway. Excellent job. Thank You!

Do you offer driveway paving services in Maryland and Northern Virginia?
Absolutely. Our residential driveway paving and asphalt services cover the entire DMV region. We serve numerous cities including Frederick, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Germantown, Hagerstown, Leesburg, and Ashburn. Our service area encompasses Montgomery County, Frederick County, Howard County, Loudoun County, and Fairfax County. We're committed to providing smooth, long-lasting driveways for homeowners throughout these areas.
How much does a new asphalt driveway cost in Maryland or Northern Virginia?
The cost of installing an asphalt driveway varies based on several factors. These include the size of your driveway, the thickness of asphalt required, the amount of site preparation needed, and any necessary demolition work. To help you budget accurately for your project, we offer complimentary paving estimates.
How long does driveway paving take to complete?
Typically, we can complete most asphalt driveway installations within 1-2 days. However, this timeline may extend if we need to remove an existing driveway or perform extensive grading work. In such cases, the project might take an additional day or two. We strive to work efficiently to minimize any inconvenience to our Maryland and Northern Virginia clients.
What is the best time of year for driveway paving in the DMV area?
In the DMV region, the optimal period for paving is from late spring through early autumn. During this time, temperatures consistently remain above freezing, which is crucial for proper asphalt installation and curing.
How long will my new asphalt driveway last?
With proper installation and maintenance, an asphalt driveway in Maryland or Northern Virginia can typically last between 10 to 15 years. We use high-grade materials and proven paving techniques to ensure your driveway can withstand local weather conditions, including the freeze-thaw cycles common in this region.
How should I maintain my asphalt driveway?
To maximize the lifespan of your Maryland or Northern Virginia driveway, we recommend the following maintenance practices: apply sealcoating every 2-3 years, address cracks promptly, avoid placing heavy stationary loads on the surface, keep the driveway clean and free of debris, and backfill the edges of your driveway regularly.
Can you pave my driveway in cold weather?
While it's possible to pave in cold weather using specialized techniques, optimal results are achieved when daytime temperatures consistently remain above freezing. This ensures proper asphalt compaction. Our paving teams are experienced in working with local weather conditions to deliver the best possible outcome for your driveway.
Will you remove my old driveway before paving?
Yes, if your current driveway is severely cracked or beyond repair, we will remove and dispose of the old asphalt or concrete. Following this, we'll prepare a suitable gravel base to ensure your new asphalt driveway has a solid foundation. We'll assess your existing driveway to determine if removal is necessary.
Is asphalt better than concrete for Maryland and Northern Virginia driveways?
Asphalt offers several advantages for driveways in Maryland and Northern Virginia. It's generally more cost-effective than concrete, easier to repair, and quicker to install. Additionally, asphalt adapts better to the region's weather patterns, which helps reduce the risk of cracking during freeze-thaw cycles.
