All in all, I’m very pleased with my experience at Black Diamond. They made the process very smooth and tirelessly answered all of my many questions throughout. When I didn’t find quite what I wanted at their slab site nor another local stone dealer they worked with, they sent me to MSI in Norwood, which has their inventory online and viewable. The staff at Black Diamond were very patient throughout a long process, and went the extra mile without complaint. I finally chose a slab from MSI, who notified Black Diamond of my choice, and told me they would hold the slab for me for 7 days. I also notified Black Diamond myself of my choice and told them they needed to order that slab to be shipped down to their warehouse in Assonet. When I hadn’t heard from them confirming that they’d done so, I left a message and was in turn sent a text that they were leaving on vacation for TWO WEEKS and would take care of everything when they returned! I had a tenant due to return to her apartment where the granite countertop was being installed in two weeks time and couldn’t wait two weeks!
They had never — during all the weeks I’d been working with them, communicating with them often — told me anything about going away for two weeks! Only now, the very day they were leaving, and not before, they informed me of this, and when I spoke to MSI that same day, I was informed that they had not ordered the slab I had on a hold there! However, when I called the next day, frantic, a young man, Viktor, who had just started working there, very kindly assured me that he and the stonecutter would in fact be able to complete my counter AND installation themselves, likely well within the coming two weeks. And I don’t know why I was told that I’d have to wait for two weeks by the other people I’d been working with, or why I’d not been informed of the gap before the last minute, but it all turned out very well because of Viktor’s skill and ease in handling the situation. The installation was flawless and painless, and the seam is really undetectable, unless you know it’s there and where it is. And even then it really can’t be seen, only slightly felt if a finger is run over it. So I really would recommend them, their prices and their workmanship are very good; just make sure you are clear about their schedule and yours if you have a deadline.
