If nostalgia for bad decisions had a smell, it would be the hallway of this hotel. From check-in to check-out, this place was a full sensory experience — mostly unpleasant. The staff acted like smiling was against company policy, the “breakfast” looked like it was left over from a Y2K bunker, and the rooms… let’s just say they came with bonus wall décor in the form of towel racks hanging on by a single screw. The hallways smelled like an 80’s casino — if you close your eyes, you can practically hear the slot machines and cigarette smoke whispering, “you shouldn’t have stayed here.” 🎰 And let’s not forget the elevator. Calling it “broken” feels generous — I’ve seen glaciers move faster. It took days to get between floors. By the time we made it to the lobby, we were older, wiser, and questioning our life choices. If you’re into immersive experiences, this hotel is for you. Every minute is an adventure — will the towel rack fall? Will the elevator open? Will you ever find the source of that smell? Would I stay again? Only if every other building within 100 miles spontaneously combusted.

Staff was rude, waited almost 25 min for someone to show up at the front desk just to make it seem like i was inconveniencing him. Rooms are worn out and walls are paper thin. Mattresses are old and dip towards the center. Won’t be staying here again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️½ — “A Night at the Henrietta Time Capsule” Let me start with the positives — the front desk crew at the Henrietta Best Western could charm the horns off a billy goat. Polite, professional, and downright pleasant. Check-in was smoother than the hotel’s weak coffee. Speaking of which, breakfast was your standard carb carnival — waffles, cereal, eggs of mysterious origin — but the coffee tasted like someone whispered the word “caffeine” over a pot of hot water. The juice machine? Out of order. Probably in therapy after years of overwork. The room itself was pretty clean, but stepping inside felt like I’d accidentally traveled back to 1987. The floral bedspread, pastel walls, and brass lamp combo screamed “Miami Vice on a budget.” I half-expected to find a VCR and a stack of Blockbuster late fees on the dresser. Now… the bed. Oh, the bed. The fitted sheet was clearly too small for the mattress — like it had dreams of being a twin but got drafted into king-size duty. Every toss and turn turned into a wrestling match. By 2 a.m., the sheet had given up entirely, leaving me exposed to a mattress stain that told a story I did not want to read. After a midnight bathroom trip, I came back and accidentally flopped straight onto it — a moment of horror and humility I won’t soon forget. All in all, not a bad stay if you don’t mind a few quirks and a nightly battle with the bedding. For the price, you get friendly staff, a decent night’s rest (if you win the sheet war), and a complimentary trip back to the Reagan era. Would I stay again? Maybe… but I’m bringing my own coffee — and my own sheets.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Rochester. On the surface, it looks like an older place that you think might be a little rough. The opposite is true. Inside you’ll find a very classy updated well run facility clean and operated by kind people. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a good size and held all the amenities you would need, and very reasonably priced. The following morning. we found that we were very closely situated next to an industrial park, and upon inspection of the industrial Park we realize that it is a food lovers haven. There we found a great restaurant equipment store and bought some coffee mugs that were just perfect. That diner style we’re all used to seeing at our favorite diner. We picked up six mugs. Directly next door is a Whole Foods style market without the high prices. Down the street is a coffee shop where they grind their coffee and sell delicious coffees and treats. There we picked up a hand bean grinder and a large drip coffee system just what we needed for our camping trips. Next to that was a Grain and baking outlet with mixes of different kinds of legumes, pastas, couscous, rice exotic grains, lentils, beans, in different combinations. Also on display were a huge variety of bread and baking flours in a wide selection of sizes, from small to large. Bakers can find an extensive selection of ingredients. Basically, if they don’t have it, you don’t need it sort of a place. My wife had to push me out the door after 40 minutes. We bought a variety of grain mixes, and we use those in our food preparations at home on a regular basis. It was a nice treat to find different combinations that you cannot find in grocery stores or Costco. I know there are other places in that industrial park that we should’ve stopped, but we were running long and had to move on. I think there was a fish market there as well. If you’re in the area definitely stop by. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a real gem!

The front desk staff member who checked us in was friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water with good water pressure. Breakfast included lots of tasty options such as cheesy omlets, tater tots, fruit, and pastries. The only shortcoming was that the coffee my husband tried was "burnt." Overall, this was a comfortable and affordable hotel a short distance from downtown.
