I've stayed at many hotels over the years but the Inn at The Falls rates as the worst. The hotel is badly in need of repairs. I wouldn't wash my dog in the moldy/dirty Jacuzzi tub and the furniture resembles a well worn college dorm. The place is terrible over-prices and they hit you with hefty resort fees for a place that that doesn't quality as a resort. Trust me, stay away from this mess of a hotel. I can't believe Best Western would lend their reputation to a dump like this.

Disappointing Stay: Maintenance and Housekeeping Issues at Best Western Plus Poughkeepsie I rarely leave negative feedback, but I felt it necessary to share my experience at the Best Western Plus Inn & Suites at the Falls in Red Oaks Mill, NY (near Poughkeepsie), so other travelers can set appropriate expectations. From the start, the stay was frustrating due to constant key card failures and deactivations. The room condition was visibly dated; rooms feel old, and minor repairs are needed, such as damaged door trims and scuffed paint. Cleanliness was a major concern—the floor was dirty with old food debris between the beds and nightstand, and we discovered old food left in the mini-fridge. Adding to the functional issues, the phone in the room was disconnected from the wall. The housekeeping service and amenity stocking were severely lacking. We were not provided washcloths, the garbage cans are too small and fill up quickly, and we completely ran out of toilet paper. After requesting more toilet paper and garbage bags before leaving for the morning, I returned hours later to find the items had still not been delivered to the room. Furthermore, the thin walls and ceilings meant we could clearly hear the people next door and above us, disrupting sleep quality. Finally, the free breakfast was disappointing. The hot food options were not hot and were not replenished when empty, nor were the condiments refilled. I had to hunt down a staff member in the back kitchen just to get basic items. Overall, the combination of poor maintenance, lack of supplies, ignored requests, and an inadequate breakfast resulted in a frustrating experience. If you are looking for a reliable, well-maintained hotel stay in the Poughkeepsie area, you may want to look elsewhere.

Summary: great staff, good breakfast, pretty view of the river, but very disappointing room for the brand and price. If they want to charge these prices and call it a BW Plus, at a bare minimum they need new beds and linens, mattress covers in every room, and new floors. Like many other reviews we felt this location fell far short of expectations for a BW Plus. The interior of the rooms desperately needs improvement and the fitness center was... kind of a joke. I may have given 3 stars if this was a regular BW but we just don't expect this quality from a Plus and they need to live up to that. Pros: The night and morning desk staff were both extremely friendly to us. We received an upgrade to a river view room, and that view was gorgeous! The hotel is definitely in a nice spot and looks really cool from the outside. We also thought the breakfast was top notch for continental; the eggs and sausage were far above average, and there were a lot of options with oatmeal packs, cereal, juices, and a fancy coffee machine. Cons: We did not find bed bugs like other reviewers have, but the mattress definitely bordered on suspect. The sheets and pillowcases looked like they'd been in rotation for 5+ years with numerous holes and small tears throughout. The carpets in the room and hallway were old and stained. The linens in our bathroom were messily presented like the housekeeper got bored of trying - the washclothes were barely folded and thrown atop the other towels. Walls were very thin and we heard foot steps all night. Coupled with the icky feel from the old sheets we got a very poor night of sleep. The fitness center, which is a key part of our hotel choices, was a small windowless room that felt like a closet, containing three crooked pieces of cardio equipment, a cable stack that had no handle options, and a single 10 lb dumbbell. If owners want to take the care to renew critical quality of life factors mentioned above I think this could be a 4 or 5 star property due to the pretty location and very friendly staff. But we did not have a good night stay.

This hotel is nicely situated on a river and has a very nice lobby area which is great if you are sleeping in either of those areas because that’s where the nice ends. I’m sure it was a stunning resort in its former life. The rooms are smelly and poorly maintained. There appeared to be some sort of infestation because we heard a mgr tell the housekeeper in the hallway by our room (while standing next to the pest control guy) to not touch anything, go home, shower, and wash her clothes. We asked if we needed to be concerned and were told that we “should be fine”. We approached the exterminator in the parking lot and he told us he has a contract and is not allowed to discuss anything- (note that he didn’t open with “nothing to worry about”). Room was not serviced during our 3 night stay; Coffee maker in room dispensed cold coffee. Ripped curtains. We spent the least amount of time possible in this room as it was so depressing and miserable to be in.

Bedbugs in Room — No Refund or Accountability During Marist Parents Weekend ⸻ Review: I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Poughkeepsie, NY during Parents Weekend for Marist University and discovered live bedbugs in my room thank goodness before bed on October 3rd in room 201. I took photos and immediately reported it to the front desk. Staff acknowledged my complaint but told me that management was unavailable for the entire weekend. I was offered another room, but after finding multiple bedbugs, I did not feel it was safe to remain on the property. I left that night and checked into the DoubleTree, which cost me ALOT on a sold out weekend. I was just happy to be out of there! Despite providing proof and following up, I was told no refund would be issued. I have contacted the Dutchess County Health Department to file a report so this can be properly investigated. This was handled very poorly—especially given that it was a sold-out Parents Weekend event. Guests deserve safe, sanitary conditions and responsive management. I will never stay at a Best Westerm again anywhere but avoid this one at all costs!!!
