I'm certain the hotel will try to refute this review, so take my review and their rebuttal, and choose to stay there at your peril and angst. As a Diamond Select member of BW, I'm pretty sure I'm qualified to compare this awful place to many more, and MUCH better BW's that exceeded my expectations. With that here's the review:
.) Nothing redeeming about this place, right from the word go.
.) They placed a hold for the room rate $177.00, on my credit card, BEFORE we even checked in.
.) We arrived in the evening, and the driveway to the hotel was very difficult to find. Drive past the Taco Bell, and you miss it.
.) Upon walking into the lobby, at 8pm (note the time) there was an instant aroma of weed... FACT.
.) There was a sports team checking in before us. They delayed me and another guest from being able to check in for several minutes. It was discernable that the lady working the desk was already flustered by the time it was my turn.
.) This begs the question of WTH did I go through the process of doing their "pre-check-in," if I had to wait in that line, and deal with the terrible attitude I encountered?!
.) I FINALLY get to the counter, it's now 8:20. The attitudinal lady half-heartedly thanks me for being a "Diamond Member," and offers me NONE of the perks (e.g., bottles of water) that come with being the highest level of loyalty to this chain.
.) The "gem" of a lady in all of her customer service glory proceeds to tell me I needed to produce a credit card for a freaking $100.00 incidentals hold?!?!? The hotel sneaks that little nugget in the fine print of the hotel details, but nowhere in the reservation does it state that crap. I don't care if the funds will allegedly be returned to me, in who knows how many days, the fact is they sneak it in on you. What if a family is on a tight budget trip, and can't afford that crap??
.) The charge pissed me off, particularly since BW is starting to do this A LOT. I vented about it, and the lady at the desk INSTANTLY took my disdain for the charge... personally. She started talking extremely smugly to me... the customer... and so I returned her condescending attitude right back to her. It was a tennis match from there, until I took the high-road. This lady HAS absolutely ZERO business being in the hospitality industry. If she can't handle, or not take it personally when a customer vents about a ridiculous incidentals policy, a customer who had already waited 20 minutes to check-in, after completing the hotel's worthless "pre-checking-in," only to be smugly and tersly greeted at the desk.... again, she has ZERO friggin' right to be a hospitality employee! She's gotta go, or at minimum be retrained.
.) Making things more annoying, she had to process my credit card for incidentals TWICE, because apparently she couldn't do it right the first time. The same thing happened to the coach of the athletic team.
.) Upon FINALLY getting up to the room, the keys DID NOT work!?!
.) My wife and I went back downstairs to get them re-coded, because by this juncture I was beyond done with the lady.
.) We FINALLY got into the room... wait for it... at 8:40 pm!?!? WTH??? 40 minutes, to get settled.
.) Seriously... you can't make this crap up... electricity in the room was daisy-chained off of a surge protector floating off the floor, due to tension on some of the wires. The hook for hanging clothes in the bathroom was hanging on for dear life when we checked in. No fan in the bathroom, and you better believe this... my wife legit killed a bug crawling on the wall... above our bed!?!?
.) Lastly... because how much more do I really want to write about this horrendous place....they require you use tickets for breakfast, and only gave us TWO,despite us being a party of 4, as thoroughly noted on our reservation. Same situation with the towels. Only provided 3, despite there being 4 of us.
In conclusion, please do yourselves a favor and avoid this place. Don't get tricked, just because it's close to the stadiums, and just off the highway. Stay outside of KC!
