Trigger warning Bed bugs! The worst travel experience I have ever had. I travels with my husband and sister for an event, we only stayed one day August 13-14. Our room was in the basement (R26) and the halls looked like they were getting some work done but not a huge deal. When we got in we checked the mattresses and didn’t see any issues with bugs in the mattress and thought we were okay. Everything was fine until the night time. My sister found a bug on her blanket and was concerned about it being a bed bug and low and behold it was, another one was found on the blanket on the other bed as well. We trapped it in a cup in the bathroom and my husband when to talk to the lady at the front desk while we got our stuff together and looked through things to make sure we didn’t bring any stragglers with us when leaving. They moved us to a different room in a different floor promptly and the front desk lady was very polite from my husbands reports. The new room was smaller and one of the blankets appeared to have pizza sauce on it but we were just happy to be somewhere without bugs. We did not use the blankets that night but we’re sure to mess them up the next morning to ensure staff is washing them. We went to breakfast exhausted spending hours of the night dealing with anxiety and going through our belongings for bed bugs and were unable to go to sleep until after 3 am. It was nearing the end of breakfast time and there was a worker lady who was absolutely screaming throughout the whole time we were there at a cook. When she was in the back you could hear her belittling him and her voice billed with anger. Then she would come out and apologize things were taking so long because the cook “doesn’t know what he is doing” and then while setting things up at stations was on the phone talking to someone, once again, about how awful the cook was and being down right disrespectful. I work in the service industry and I understand it gets frustrating but at no point should it ever be acceptable to scream at people and treat them like they’re worthless and stupid. To top it all off we asked the front desk if we could get a slight refund for having to go to a smaller room and they said we’d have to call later since the manager wasn’t in. Once we did call we were told that no one reported the incident and that we never changed rooms and there was nothing they can do. I’ve learned my lesson and if anything like this happens again I’ll make sure to get names but it overall was an absolute headache. It’s a decent location next to events and there’s a Taco Bell which is nice but I promise you it’s not worth it.

I'm certain the hotel will try to refute this review, so take my review and their rebuttal, and choose to stay there at your peril and angst. As a Diamond Select member of BW, I'm pretty sure I'm qualified to compare this awful place to many more, and MUCH better BW's that exceeded my expectations. With that here's the review: 1.) Nothing redeeming about this place, right from the word go. 2.) They placed a hold for the room rate $177.00, on my credit card, BEFORE we even checked in. 3.) We arrived in the evening, and the driveway to the hotel was very difficult to find. Drive past the Taco Bell, and you miss it. 4.) Upon walking into the lobby, at 8pm (note the time) there was an instant aroma of weed... FACT. 5.) There was a sports team checking in before us. They delayed me and another guest from being able to check in for several minutes. It was discernable that the lady working the desk was already flustered by the time it was my turn. 6.) This begs the question of WTH did I go through the process of doing their "pre-check-in," if I had to wait in that line, and deal with the terrible attitude I encountered?! 7.) I FINALLY get to the counter, it's now 8:20. The attitudinal lady half-heartedly thanks me for being a "Diamond Member," and offers me NONE of the perks (e.g., bottles of water) that come with being the highest level of loyalty to this chain. 8.) The "gem" of a lady in all of her customer service glory proceeds to tell me I needed to produce a credit card for a freaking $100.00 incidentals hold?!?!? The hotel sneaks that little nugget in the fine print of the hotel details, but nowhere in the reservation does it state that crap. I don't care if the funds will allegedly be returned to me, in who knows how many days, the fact is they sneak it in on you. What if a family is on a tight budget trip, and can't afford that crap?? 9.) The charge pissed me off, particularly since BW is starting to do this A LOT. I vented about it, and the lady at the desk INSTANTLY took my disdain for the charge... personally. She started talking extremely smugly to me... the customer... and so I returned her condescending attitude right back to her. It was a tennis match from there, until I took the high-road. This lady HAS absolutely ZERO business being in the hospitality industry. If she can't handle, or not take it personally when a customer vents about a ridiculous incidentals policy, a customer who had already waited 20 minutes to check-in, after completing the hotel's worthless "pre-checking-in," only to be smugly and tersly greeted at the desk.... again, she has ZERO friggin' right to be a hospitality employee! She's gotta go, or at minimum be retrained. 10.) Making things more annoying, she had to process my credit card for incidentals TWICE, because apparently she couldn't do it right the first time. The same thing happened to the coach of the athletic team. 11.) Upon FINALLY getting up to the room, the keys DID NOT work!?! 12.) My wife and I went back downstairs to get them re-coded, because by this juncture I was beyond done with the lady. 13.) We FINALLY got into the room... wait for it... at 8:40 pm!?!? WTH??? 40 minutes, to get settled. 14.) Seriously... you can't make this crap up... electricity in the room was daisy-chained off of a surge protector floating off the floor, due to tension on some of the wires. The hook for hanging clothes in the bathroom was hanging on for dear life when we checked in. No fan in the bathroom, and you better believe this... my wife legit killed a bug crawling on the wall... above our bed!?!? 15.) Lastly... because how much more do I really want to write about this horrendous place....they require you use tickets for breakfast, and only gave us TWO,despite us being a party of 4, as thoroughly noted on our reservation. Same situation with the towels. Only provided 3, despite there being 4 of us. In conclusion, please do yourselves a favor and avoid this place. Don't get tricked, just because it's close to the stadiums, and just off the highway. Stay outside of KC!

Lady at the front desk was nice and the lady behind the pub counter was nice! Great location! We could walk to the Chiefs game! Not a lot of restaurants but that's not the hotels fault. I have to say it's not really worth what we payed. No complimentary water and none in the vending machine. We could have used a few more towels and the coffee pods were not great. Breakfast was good but they ran out of coffee. We could have saved money by getting a different hotel and just Uber a ride close to the stadium but we don't know what we are doing most of the time when we plan a trip.

Don't waste your money. I stayed one night, had to do that $100 deposit. They said 5-8 days for the refund. It's been 15 days and I'm still waiting. They blame it on my bank and my bank blames them. Night time shift were rude & hasty. Morning shift was completely opposite. Breakfast is hot & very good.
