Fantastic hidden gem! I've been living here for about three months as a result of major storm damage to my house. It took me a couple of months to find this place, as it is basically in Attalla, but once I did I was completely flabbergasted by how easy and pleasant it is to stay here. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. I've made friends with the women who work the front desk and I enjoy chatting with them then I come "home." I'm also not the only person who "lives" here.
A few customers stay here frequently, and for long stretches, due to the nature of their work. One in particular I've spoken with stays here even when his work-related travel takes him to Birmingham. That means that he absorbs a two-hour round trip commute just to stay here. I'm in a similar situation. My office is 45 minutes away, but I've tried out several hotels since a massive oak fell on my house, and this is simply the best one I've found. It's worth the 1.5 hr round trip on days I need to travel.
The rooms are LARGE. This is especially important to me as I'm living here. My suite has a separate living room area and that make all the difference. The bathroom is spacious as well. There is even a foyer area inside the room. It almost feels like a small apartment rather than a hotel "room."
The hotel is close to everything you might need: Walmart, tons of restaurants and a new, clean laundromat. Very close to two freeways as well. It's an exceptionally clean and quiet hotel too, and the owner makes sure that it never falls into disrepair. They just did a cosmetic renovation that I didn't think was necessary at the time as it looked just fine to me, but now that it's done, I have to agree that it was an improvement. They have also upgraded the cable TV service and even the door locks. Again, I thought these were fine as they were but it is evident that the owner takes great pride in keeping his property up-to-date and with the best equipment and aesthetic possible. I plan to cut down all remaining trees in my yard (because now I'm terrified of them), but if by some misfortune, I end up with major home repairs again, I'll book into this place.
