0 stars – AC broken, staff lied about it, refused refund. Dishonest and rude – avoid this hotel.
I stayed here Sept 20–21 with my family, including two senior citizens. The room itself was decent, but the air conditioning was not functioning at all. Imagine four people trying to sleep in Texas heat with no AC.
I called the front desk multiple times and even went down around 11 PM. The front desk assistant admitted they were aware of the issue but wouldn’t do anything until the next morning. They also claimed the hotel was at 100% occupancy, so no room change was possible. I told them we couldn’t stay under these conditions and asked for a refund. The night manager verbally confirmed they were sorry, understood, and would provide a full refund – I just needed to have Airbnb (where I booked) contact them in the morning. On that assurance, I checked out around midnight.
Here’s where the nightmare really began: the next morning Airbnb called the hotel, and suddenly the staff denied everything – claiming the AC was “working fine.” Later, when I followed up directly, they gave a laughable excuse: that the thermostat was set to “ON” instead of “AUTO,” which supposedly caused the issue. That’s just not true. Anyone who understands HVAC knows that “ON” only keeps the fan running – it does not stop the AC from cooling. If the system was actually working, we would have felt cold air when the compressor kicked in. Instead, all we ever got was room-temperature air, meaning the AC was not cooling at all. On top of that, not a single staff member ever came to the room to check it firsthand.
When I pressed them to honor their verbal promise, the staff spoke rudely and refused. Since then, the manager has dodged my calls, always “busy” and asking me to call back in a few days. It’s obvious they’re just avoiding responsibility.
This hotel’s behavior is dishonest and unacceptable:
Lied about the AC working.
Used a bogus thermostat excuse to cover themselves.
Broke their verbal promise of a refund.
Treated guests rudely instead of taking responsibility.
Dodged follow-up calls instead of resolving the issue.
I would never recommend this property. If you value honesty, basic comfort, and customer service, stay away. Plenty of hotels in Austin will treat you better.
