The staff were exceptionally friendly, everything was very clean, and the breakfast was beautifully prepared and delicious.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Downtown Tacoma for a few days during a recent family trip, and honestly, it ended up being one of the better hotel experiences we’ve had in a while. The place was clean, quiet, and comfortable! Everything you actually want when you’re traveling with family. The rooms were well kept, beds were solid (not those saggy ones you regret the next morning), and the location made it easy to get around the city without much hassle.
What really stood out though was the staff. They greeted us every time we came through the lobby like she actually meant it not just that forced “welcome back” you get at most places. They helped us get checked in quickly, gave us good local food suggestions, and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for the kids. You can tell that they take pride in their job, and that kind of genuine attitude makes a difference.
Breakfast was solid, parking was easy, and the overall atmosphere felt safe and relaxed. For a hotel in downtown Tacoma, this one hit the right balance between comfort, price, and service. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town.

My husband and I choose to stay at the BestWestern Plus Downtown Tacoma for a small get away for our anniversary!
The staff were pleasant and the location is perfect for everything we needed. It’s close to Point Ruston which is one of our favorite locations in the area! The staff was so friendly and recommended new places to eat and see while we were in town since we hadn’t come to visit in a couple of years. We would usually pass up this location back when it was a Comfort Inn and suites (it always seemed a bit sketchy) now that it’s a Best Western and they’ve done some remodeling and cleaning up of the area it’s a great place to stay. We have a lifted vehicle and we were a bit scared that we wouldn’t be able to park it at the hotel but they informed us they have 3 parking lots (2 underground lots and one back lot for taller/bigger vehicles)
They serve a nice hot breakfast and as a coffee connoisseur the 24 hour coffee bar is amazing! Staff is an available 24 hours a day and they take complaints seriously if you have a problem (missing shampoo or conditioner, needing an extra towel etc.) we would stay here time and time again in the future! We’re excited to see how this place grows and what future changes they’ll make over the years!
100/100 would recommend.

Our recent stay at the Best Western, driven by an event at the dome, was deeply disappointing and frankly, an exercise in frustration. While we expected an inflated price due to the event, paying nearly triple the usual rate for this experience is unacceptable.
The room itself was dismal. The view was less a 'view' and more a look into an 'apocalyptic-esque' HVAC system, constantly 'enhanced' by a relentlessly bright fluorescent light directly outside our window.
However, the major issue was the parking situation. Upon arrival, we were hit with an unexpected demand for an additional parking fee, despite the already exorbitant room rate. Compounding this, there was simply nowhere to park. Due to the event, every single spot within a mile radius was taken. When we sought help, the staff's response — "this always happens" — was infuriating.
This casual dismissal is precisely the problem. If a hotel knowingly charges drastically inflated rates during major events, the expectation is that they will have a solution for fundamental amenities like parking. To take advantage of the demand and then offer no solutions, while adding extra fees, is terrible customer service. The Best Western clearly knows this is an ongoing issue and needs to "figure it out" immediately instead of shrugging off the problem. We paid for a premium stay but received a bottom-tier, frustrating experience.
Oh and by the way the elevator got stranded and they had to call the fire department.
Let me start by saying the staff I interacted with were genuinely pleasant, and I really enjoyed the morning breakfasts. I made my reservation months ago, and while the process hit a snag due to the property getting bought out, it caused a bit of panic. I figured booking early would mean a better room location, but apparently that’s not how it works.
I was expecting a great view, but a few things made it pretty disappointing. The windows clearly hadn’t been washed in a long time—someone even managed to draw a smiley face on the outside of the glass, which I still can’t figure out how that’s even possible. At night, the view gets completely ruined by flood lamps that light up the entire room. Trying to get the drapes fully closed is a challenge, and any tiny gap lets that harsh light pour in. The windows open slightly, and from there you can see trash and towels scattered across the rooftop below.
Then there’s the elevator situation. It felt like only one was working, and the lines to go up or down were ridiculous. If I didn’t have a cane, I honestly would’ve just taken the stairs.
And the kicker? Parking. They charged an extra $15 per night just to park my car. That didn’t sit right with me at all. Between that and everything else, I doubt I’ll be coming back to this hotel.
Follow up:
Thanks for the follow-up and for refunding one night of parking, that part was genuinely appreciated.
However, when I called the hotel as suggested, it felt like they had no idea what I was talking about. I mentioned it was regarding my review, and all I got was, "What do you want to talk about?"
Your written response made it seem like you genuinely wanted to have a dialogue about my experience, which I appreciated. But that wasn’t reflected in the actual interaction.
Also, there were other concerns during my stay that I didn’t mention in the original review, and I thought this follow-up was an invitation to discuss those too.
Just wanted to share that honestly, thanks again for the partial parking refund, but I hope future guests get the kind of follow-through your message promised.
