It was much more than I expected! Very clean, well appointed, plenty of places for luggage and extras. Large well lit bathroom with very nice shower and plenty of counter space. Full breakfast with everything well placed and attractive. Congrats to management and staff. Well done! In addition, plenty of parking and there are restaurants right across the parking lot.

Recommend! Rooms were well kept, clean and organized. Hotel is very spacious and laid out, perfect for your guests to stay if holding an event near by. Pool area and breakfast area/patio were wonderful along with their conference room.

Stayed at the Best Western in Okemos, Michigan-three months now, with at least one more ahead. General manager negotiated an unbeatable long-stay rate, undercutting all competitors; you can tell he actually gives a damn. Front desk greets me by name "morning, Mr. Boyd" no forced sir nonsense. Night auditor's a low key sharp guy, treats everyone like neighbors, not room numbers. You can see management knows he's gold and already dreading the day he moves on. Breakfast lady? Sweetheart with a killer smile and fires up eggs, sausage, and now oatmeal (my request) fifteen to thirty minutes early every morning. Never cold, always warm, even if it means extra cleanup. Rooms crush the typical chain standard: plush beds, smart TVs, pool, workout room with enough equipment to get a solid start to the day and its located right off the highway with an easy on easy off! Zero complaints. If Lansing's your stop, even just overnight, this place stands alone. Book it.

My first suite had a fridge that wouldn’t get cold. When I asked the front desk to move me - it seems the manager isn’t on property often, so I was dealing with a young, very nice but not properly trained clerk - I was told that they were booked so there were no other rooms. “Maybe you can just give it a minute?” He says. “Give it a minute for what? It’s going to just magically get cold?” Then he says, “I honestly have no idea?” And laughs. After some back and forth, I ask, “Is there someone above you we can call to ask?” Only THEN did he realize that yes, he could text his manager. Within 10 minutes he called back, ready to move me to a jacuzzi suite for no extra charge. (You couldn’t pay me to use a hotel jacuzzi, I just wanted a working fridge.) So off we went. Jacuzzi room with a working fridge! Unfortunately as I began to unpack, I realized that I had checked into the Diddy suite, as the room reeked of perfume, and there was melted candle wax EVERYWHERE. On the doorframes, on the carpet, on the lampshades and on the curtains (curtains also had greasy brown stains). Turns out the smell was the candle wax, but it was on so many surfaces that when I turned on the heat, it got reheated and the smell reactivated. The shower head isn’t adjustable, so it just sprays water at the edge of the glass door, leaving a huge puddle at the entrance. Right where you need to place your feet and hope you don’t slip and fall and break your neck. I took photos, then spent 40 minutes attempting to clean it up. Then I decided to report it to my guy at the desk. Showed him the photos. But he, of course, had no authority to do or fix anything. He said, “It’s always the suites! I’m sure it was someone who was drinking…. And they made a big mess….” Then he said he would “note the account about the mess and that you had to clean the room yourself. Maybe you can get a discount or something!” Maybe? Uh huh. I decided one night was manageable because I was certain the manager would do something to correct whenever they returned. In the AM, found out only Expedia (that’s where I booked) can give refunds. (Because of course, the night desk clerk was uninformed about that policy as well.) After over a day of Expedia trying to reach them, they refused any refund. They offered NO consolations and made no effort to cure! This was my second stay. Never again!! **I did mention to my original friend at the desk that I could call Best Western HQ and see what they might be able to do. He said that they’re independently owned and not controlled by corporate. Regardless, contacting them is my next task. I refuse to believe Best Western is ok with renting rooms in this condition.
