Not sure if this is an issue with Priceline, or the Golden Spike. I made reservations in July for a wedding the weekend of the 24th-26th of October. Pulled into the parking lot and found it empty. Didn't think much about it since it is off-season. Found the registration door, then found it locked. Went to a nearby motel and found out that the motel closed for the season on the 19th. Everything ended up working out in the end and so far it has not cost me anything. But someone sure dropped the ball. I would hope that the motel knew there was a reservation a while ago, but who knows? No score for Rooms or Service since we never saw anything. The Hill City area is beautiful, so location scored.

We stayed here for four nights and rented two rooms for Labor Day weekend. At first glance it looked fine, but the rooms smelled musty, almost a mold smell. The rooms needed to be deep cleaned around the baseboards, in corners, under the beds and tables, and in the bathrooms and around the toilets due to cobwebs, dirt, and food debri. They just had not had a deep clean in months. The shower wall surrounds are faded acrylic panels that went from white to vanilla pudding yellow. The bathrooms could definitely use updates. I am 5'-8" and could barely get into the bathroom area with the toilet and shower and close the door behind me - they are super small. The sink is outside of the bathroom in the walkway by the sleeping area, so if you need to brush your teeth, wash your hands, do make up, or grab food when anyone is sleeping, the lights and the noise will wake them up. My man is 6'-3" and ran into everything in the tiny toilet/shower space. If you are a taller/bigger person, I'd look elsewhere. The mini fridges were nearly shut off, so we kept our food in the cooler in the car until they were up to temp. There is only ice available on main floor in a weird back room where staff does laundry, no water available after they lock up the breakfast area in the a.m. The tiny coffee bar was a saving grace. The A/C unit in one room paid no attention to any setting. The sheets and towels were clean and I always check for bugs first thing and didn't see anything. The swimming pool was not good. I used to be a water safety instructor and this pool had something going on. We did jump in and swim and the water was very warm. I got chlorine in my eyes and got an instant chemical eye burn. I jumped out and flushed them out with tap water. My eyes burned for two weeks and I had to call the eye doctor to get special drops. The parking was a huge challenge in the evenings to get anything close to the building and many guests take up two spots with pick ups and toy hauling trailers. The breakfasts were the same every morning and were pretty mid, slow on refilling the food and cleaning up guest spills and messes. While the staff were friendly and had great attitudes, there's a language barrier that left one of our rooms cleaned and the other one uncleaned. The best part was the location. We largely chose this place for the pool for the kiddo, so we probably won't chance it again.
