If you’ve ever wanted to stay in a hotel that smells like black mold and despair, welcome to the Best Western Fort Myers Inn — where comfort goes to die. The carpets are so filthy your feet turn black, and the air is a toxic blend of mildew and bleach. Rest is forbidden; you’ll be forced out mid-morning for “mandatory housekeeping.” The front desk staff seem allergic to logic, and new “policies” appear daily. Between the smell, the filth, and the cluelessness, you’ll check out refreshed — mostly from escaping.
The hotel is newly remodeled, very clean, and updated. Iris at the front desk arranged drivers to take us to/from a medical appointment. She was very professional, kind, and helpful! We weren't able to eat breakfast there (had to go to an early medical appt), but it looked and smelled good! We will return again when in the area!

We stayed at Best Western Fort Myers Inn & Suites on 23 july to 25 july with our 7-year-old son. During the night, he became ill (likely due to heatstroke) and vomited a small amount on the bedsheet while sleeping. We immediately removed the sheets and informed housekeeping the next morning before breakfast. The sheets were changed without issue, and we continued our stay.
After returning home, we discovered that our $100 security deposit had been withheld. When we contacted the hotel, they refused to refund it, claiming the soiled sheet was the reason. We were given no prior warning, no documentation, and no breakdown of this charge.
What makes this even more frustrating is that we've stayed in many hotels — both in the U.S. and abroad — and have never experienced a deposit deduction for a health-related, non-damaging incident involving a child.
The hotel room was not damaged in any way, just a basic linens change that any hotel would perform as part of normal operations. This was a temporary, medical issue involving a child — not negligence or misuse of the room.
To make matters worse, the staff was dismissive and impolite, and the hotel management showed no understanding or flexibility. Even when we contacted Best Western’s corporate customer service, we were simply told, "The hotel decides."
This experience was deeply disappointing, and we do not believe it reflects the values that Best Western claims to uphold. We advise families — or anyone expecting fair treatment — to think twice before booking this location.
Unfair charges, poor customer service, and no empathy for families with children.
“Families beware”
“Make sure to clarify deposit terms”

I haven't walked barefoot on hotel carpet in 30 years - the entire facility was immaculate! Staff were friendly and accommodating as well as always busy.
