We love Bennett Nurseries. We bought several pots of Belgian mums for $5 and $10 each, which they grow themselves. They have a great variety of garden and flower seeds, house plants, bulbs, seasonal trees and plants, pottery and anything you need for growing

We are new to Huntsville and just had a great first shopping experience at Bennett. Jeff was so patient and informative in assisting us with our plant selection, and Chelsea was delightful at checkout. I didn't get any other names, but everyone on the staff we encountered there was friendly and cheerful and offered their assistance.
Their prices are fair and plant variety and quality are wonderful. We now have our go to local nursery. They are the best!

There is a place just off the old road where the hum of the city dies behind you like a memory too loud to last, where the sun spills in long silken ribbons through a cathedral canopy of oak and pine and the scent of jasmine and loam folds into your clothes, into your hair, into the very skin of you, and it is called Bennett Nurseries.
It is not merely a place of plants—it is a place of memory, of patience, of seasons folded one into another like stories in the mind of an old man who has watched gardens grow and fall and grow again. The rows are not rows but rhythms—hydrangeas sighing like forgotten hymns, roses straining upward in the August heat as though they might speak the names of saints, fig trees low and fat with the slow wisdom of fruiting things. You do not shop here, no—you visit, you wander, you recall.
And the people—God, the people—do not sell so much as they guide, like Virgil in that haunted forest, their voices quiet, confident, and kind, telling you not what you want but what will thrive, what will take to your soil, what will love the sun in your yard the way a child loves summer. You ask about shade and they speak of dogwoods; you ask about drought and they speak of roots, and by the end you are not buying, you are becoming—something rooted, something known.
Time moves slow at Bennett Nurseries. Slower than a summer storm rolling in from the west, slower than the waiting of seeds. And it should. For here, among azaleas and clay pots, perennials and peace lilies, you are reminded that the best things—the true things—cannot be rushed. They grow in their time. As they should.
Bennett Nurseries is not just a nursery. It is a Southern poem written in green. And I will return, as all good things compel return, season after season, to walk again among the blooms and breathe deep that quiet, blooming truth.
Frequently Asked Questions About Bennett Nurseries
Do you take special orders?
If we don’t have what you want, we have a special request list. If we are able to find what you need within a short time, we will call you when the plants arrive.
Are you open year-round?
Yes, we are open all year. Aside from certain holidays, we have extended hours during spring and summer, but in the fall and winter our days and hours may be shortened.
I’ve never been there, is it worth the trip?
We love our loyal customers and always enjoy seeing new faces! When visiting us, you can expect a relaxed shopping atmosphere amongst established landscaped beds. Enjoy a complimentary Coca Cola or Dr. Pepper in an old-fashioned glass bottle or even a diet water while you shop!
When is the best time to plant a shrub?
Most “permanent” trees, shrubs, and perennials can be planted year-round provided they receive the necessary water they need. Our selection varies throughout the year, but our busiest times with the most to offer are during spring and fall.
How do I plant a new tree, shrub, or flower?
Everyone has a different way, but this is our checklist: Begin with digging a hole twice as wide yet no deeper than the root ball. Check to make sure water percolates through your soil (water should not stand in the hole over the course of a few hours). Mix a soil amendment with your native soil (compost, bark fines, etc.) Fill in the hole around the new plant no deeper than the plant was originally growing. Apply a slow-release fertilizer and water in.
Do you have a guarantee?
We have a “Healthy Plant Guarantee.” We guarantee to offer healthy, viable plants, yet we cannot ensure their survival in various soil types, extreme weather, or for multiple seasons. If you have issues with the quality of your purchase, we want to help. Please save your receipt.
Do you offer refunds or exchanges?
We can accept plants for exchange that are in a healthy viable condition within 7 days of purchase (receipt required.) Any refunds will be in the form of store credit (again, receipt required.) No cash refunds.
Do you offer installation?
No, we do not offer installation. We do, however, have a list of local independent contractors that can do the job for you.
Do you offer landscape design?
We do not offer landscape design. We can refer you to local designers for your project. We do give advice, though, so if you’re looking for ideas for small spaces, just ask.
Do you deliver?
Yes, we do! We can deliver within Madison County, AL. We have a fee of $75 per load (whatever fits on our truck and trailer.)
