I work in personal customer service myself and it is not very often that I come across a company that portrays this level of customer service, help, professionalism, and assistance. To my horror, I was placed in a position of having bed bugs and I spent hours researching and trying to figure out what was the best thing for me to do. I looked into both options of heat treatment and traditional spray. The heat treatment was hands down the way to go. I wasn't able to live at home for over a week and a half and the thought of having a company take care of everything and in one day be able to return was worth it. They walked me thru everything. Marc was so thorough and took his time answering all my questions and helping me thru my situation. They took care of everything. They made sure to take care of all my belongs, my plants, fragile items, and anything I may have concern for. I received continual communication on how the process was going and they always were great at answering any questions or concerns that came up. I am beyond happy to have worked with this company and to get my life back. I highly recommend them to anyone going thru this. What are bed bugs?
Bed bugs are small, parasitic insects that feed on human blood.
Where did bed bugs come from?
During the 18th Century, bed bugs made their way onto American soil via ships arriving from Europe. By the 20th Century, most Americans had seen and been bitten by bed bugs. However, with diligence and the use of pesticides, bed bugs had almost been eliminated.
So why are Bed Bugs still an issue and why are we hearing more about them?
Unfortunately, the bed bug began making a resurgence, showing up in hotels and motels during the 1990’s. This resurgence has steadily increased; and today, the bed bug population has reached exponential numbers throughout America.
Much of this is a result of:
- Increased international travel
- Buying second-hand or vintage furniture
- Bed bugs' increasing resistance to multiple types of pesticides including DDT
- A lack of community awareness or knowledge of the bed bug
How do I know if I have bed bugs?
Look for physical signs, such as bites, bloodstains and/or black fecal spots on bedding and furniture, small white dots (which are their eggs), the exoskeletons they shed, or the bed bugs themselves.
Are there health risks associated with bed bugs?
Aside from skin irritation from bites and/or anxiety from knowing that you have bed bugs, there are no major health risks associated with bed bugs – they do not transmit diseases.
What should I do if I suspect a bed bug infestation?
