It was my cousin’s bday. We made reservations the day before. Our waiter honestly just didn’t seem like our waiter. Nothing about the service gave we want you to enjoy your birthday & our restaurant. They asked my cousin what type of cake she wanted and attempted to charge her for the bday cake lol. The food was good but overpriced. The crab cakes were small over all good but for the price I expected them to be bigger &/or have more crab meat. I had the Jerk salmon w/ steamed veggies & added black rice instead. My cousin had the lamb chops w/ mash & I think steamed veggies as well. Both really solid dishes. The Red velvet cake wasn’t good at all & I had the Croissant bread pudding it was okay but firm not spoon tender, ice cream was the best part. I ordered my cousin the Bamboo punch & I had the Toasted almond both really good. When I ordered my Lychee martini I waited about 40min for it and it was soooo strong I almost didn’t finish it lol. I’m not sure if they were under staffed but it truly wasn’t that many quest. Upon arrival there was 4 tables with 2-4 guest at each and then our party of 2 followed by a party of 4 for a young child’s bday. They way the table after us was waited on is really honestly the only reason we were able to notify her that we needed something. We found out they had martini specials on Tuesday from the tv screens advertising the business, we found out our waiters name after asking her, just simple info that could’ve been provided at the beginning of our encounter but unfortunately we were robbed of that service because her services was needed else where. Plus it was very ironic that after my cousin left was the only time she was concerned about her. When my cousin came back in she was being xtra friendly by asking us were we Haitian for requesting Busy Signal- happy bday song??? I was in town visiting my cousin for her bday. This was our first time at Bamboo Walk and I wouldn’t suggest dining in especially not for an event or something as special as a bday. Hopefully they work on this, get more staff for better service so that the quantity matches the overall quality.
Let me start off by saying the food at this place is excellent, the atmosphere is great...visited for the second time, 1st visited was a group of 6 and 2nd time my wife and I, both visits we had the same server who claims to be a manager but very confrontational when asked simple menu questions, thanks to Jermaine who saved us the 1st visit but our visit lastnight we had to ask for her to be replaced and the gentleman (Oneil) who served us lastnight was the best..answered our simple questions and was very attentive.
We will definitely be back and I have told a few friends about the spot.
To the Owner thumbs up because the biggest complaint at Jamaican restaurants is customer service and your staff was on point except for that one person....don't let her give your establishment reviews.
A Truly Unforgettable Evening at Bamboo Walk
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you're searching for an authentic Jamaican dining experience that truly captures the heart and soul of the Caribbean right here in Brooklyn, look no further than Bamboo Walk on Utica Avenue. This place doesn’t just serve food — it serves an experience. I recently brought my two favorite cousins here during their visit from out of town, and what started as a casual dinner turned into one of those unforgettable evenings we’ll be reminiscing about for years to come.
From the very first moment we stepped through the doors, we could feel the warmth and vibrancy of the place. The ambiance immediately set the tone for what was to come — lively, welcoming, and full of character. Soft reggae music filled the air, the décor blended modern comfort with island charm, and the gentle hum of conversation created a perfect backdrop for reconnecting with loved ones. It’s that kind of space where you can relax, laugh freely, and feel right at home while still enjoying an experience that feels a little bit special.
The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, genuine, and clearly proud of what they do. They struck the perfect balance — always nearby and ready to help, but never hovering. They took time to explain menu options, share their personal favorites, and ensure our drinks and plates were always full. Their professionalism, warmth, and easy smiles made us feel more like family than customers.
Now, the food — where do I even begin? Every single dish that came to our table was bursting with bold, authentic Jamaican flavors that transported us straight to the islands. From the tender jerk chicken to the perfectly seasoned oxtail and the fluffy rice and peas, everything was cooked to perfection. You could tell each meal was made with love, using fresh ingredients and traditional techniques. The portions were more than generous, and every bite was pure comfort. Even my cousins, who are serious food lovers, were completely blown away by the quality and depth of flavor.
The evening flowed beautifully as we ate, talked, and laughed. The restaurant’s energy made it easy to unwind and enjoy the moment. We found ourselves taking photos, sharing stories, and even chatting with other diners who were just as delighted by their meals. It felt like a true community space — one that brings people together through great food, great music, and a shared appreciation for Jamaican culture.
What made this visit truly special was how everything — the atmosphere, the food, the service, and the company — blended perfectly to create a memorable experience. Bamboo Walk didn’t just give us a wonderful dinner; it gave us a night that reminded us why we love Brooklyn and all its hidden gems. It’s the kind of place that makes you proud to show your guests the best the city has to offer.
Whether you’re planning a family gathering, a night out with friends, or just craving some incredible Caribbean food, Bamboo Walk should be at the very top of your list. Every detail — from the warm welcome to the last delicious bite — reflects genuine care and passion. I can’t recommend it enough.
If you want great food, a great atmosphere, and a genuine taste of Jamaica right in the heart of Brooklyn, Bamboo Walk is the place to go. You won’t just enjoy a meal here — you’ll make a memory.

From the moment we walked into Bamboo Walk, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Selena D. made the entire experience exceptional. She greeted us with a genuine smile and provided attentive, friendly service throughout our visit.
Selena was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and made sure our drinks and meals were always served promptly. Her professionalism and positive attitude really stood out — she checked in just the right amount, making us feel cared for without ever being intrusive.
The food itself was delicious and beautifully presented, and Selena’s service made it even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find someone who combines efficiency, personality, and true hospitality the way she does.
