  The room was in need of fixing by their engineering staff! Toilet handle was not working so every toilet flush left the tank water running….it was LOUD and disturbing! The sink drain cover was broken and the sink was draining slowly…. It was gross! The vanity mirror light bulb was broken. I went in person twice to have these problems resolved but the front desk person did nothing but say “We are sorry”. One person said they would have someone look at it after we leave for the day but nothing was done! Terrible… this hotel is a “Luxury Hotel” with a”Motel 6” mentality. With the cost of stay you would think things would be fixed and people who work there were more about customer service. It is a place generated by customer service? I also wanted to have a one hour later checkout. Was turned down immediately on a Sunday morning. Would a 12 noon checkout disrupt business for the day??? I do not recommend the Balboa Bay Resort Hotel…stat at the many other fine hotels in the Orange County area who would appreciate you!!!!

  Our toilet handle was broken, the lights flickered on their own, and we were placed in a room that backed up to valet. A bummer. We really wanted this to be our vaca place away from LA. :-(

  Exemplary customer care is the norm at Balboa Bay Resort. However; three staff members to recognize over-and-above: Milli who greeted me at the front desk with joy and kindness after a day that, hopefully, will not soon be repeated; Manny who served me as if I was at the table in his home instead of "just" at his place of work and Susan who sent me off hassle and worry free from my stay. Blessings to you all.

  For the exorbitant price it charges, this hotel leaves much to be desired. Our room was outdated and had a lingering chemical smell that would not dissipate even with the windows all day. The service at the restaurant was incredibly slow and the price did not match the amount or quality of the food. The hotel did not honor the property credit it promoted upon checkout, leaving us with an unexpected high bill. The only decent service was the valet. I would not spend my money here again. Edited to add that I reached out to management per the owner’s comment below and they never responded.

  My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate my birthday, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The manager, Ali, went above and beyond by surprising us with an upgrade to a beautiful room. The service was exceptional—every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. They even sent champagne and macarons to our room as a special birthday treat. After lunch, our waiter overheard a friend wishing me happy birthday and, within minutes, brought out a complimentary cake dessert. From the spotless, comfortable room to the breathtaking views of the boats and bay, every moment felt relaxing and special. We can’t wait to return!
