Horrendous from start to finish.
We chose carpet and had Avalon double check it was in stock as we had a non-negotiable move in date at our new home. Avalon confirmed both carpets we chose were in stock and could be installed within 2 weeks. A week and a half later they then sent someone out to measure in our home, and we signed a contract. A week after this we were then told not only was the carpet not in stock, it had not yet been produced by the manufacturer, and it would be another several weeks before it was received. While Avalon offered to give us back our deposit due to the confusion, we understand mistakes happen and we chose another “in stock” carpet and moved forward with Avalon as we were under a time constraint.
While we had already removed all carpet in our home, sporadic staples remained throughout the floors and stairwells, so when a rep came out for measurements, my husband specifically pointed this out to her while she was here and the rep assured him the installers would be able to remove these remnants. After receiving and reviewing our quote, we noticed that it did not include a fee for carpet rip-up, so we sent an email to the same rep who completed the measurement in our home to ensure this could be completed, and after not receiving a reply for several days, we then called her and she again assured us the installers knew about the staples and would be able to remove them during install. We were told there was no additional fee for this rip-up.
Carpet installation was completed in two phases. The first installation was completed without any remarkable concerns. But when two of the three same installers arrived for the second installation phase, immediately after walking into our home they stated “We don’t get paid to remove these staples; we can’t do this.” The installers advised us to call their Avalon supervisor. We immediately called Avalon who stated the rep who measured did not inform them that there would be staples to remove, and that if we wanted them removed, we would need to pay a fee. We agreed to pay the fee, but felt this was unethical since we previously called about this when we saw it was not included on our contract, and there was no issue with this during the first phase of install by the same crew of installers.
We are extremely disappointed in the result of the second carpet install as it resulted in an excessive amount of dents in baseboards, trim work, and large scratches along numerous walls throughout our home. There were also multiple greasy/dirty handprints left on the walls! Furthermore, the installers laid our new cream carpet through the main living space, and then proceeded to walk all over it in shoes throughout the day during the remainder of install resulting in numerous dirty footprints across the whole room as they tracked in dirt and debris from outside. The second installation also resulted in uneven and jagged doorway seams and highly visible seams throughout the rooms. It is also important to note this second installation lasted almost 12 hours, from approximately 9 AM to 9 pm, and we were not prepared to have installers in our home for this length of time.
We have had carpet installed in the past and we understand some markings from tools are unavoidable. However, we feel the excessive amount of markings and dents, lack of professionalism and attention to detail, poor installation, disorganization, and lack of clear communication from Avalon is completely unacceptable.
Our entire experience with Avalon was a frustrating ordeal from start to finish, and we are now left with noticeably poor installation of carpet throughout the entirety of our home. We have spent the past week completing baseboard repair, cleaning walls, and repainting.
Please save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for carpet needs.

Do you provide samples to bring home for review?
Many of our products do have samples that can be brought home. Depending on the product, you may be able to take those samples home the same day, or we may have to ship them to your home.
